Breast pump question

I want to get the Ameda Purely Yours pump and I'm debating between two packages.

The only difference between the two packages is the Ultra package comes with two additional flange sizes and a manual single hand pump.

The cost difference is only $50 but I'm trying to cut back on spending across the board.  I'm just wondering if anyone found having other flange sizes and the manual pump useful enough to spend the extra money?

Re: Breast pump question

  • The nesting house sells these maybe give them a call to discuss more. I upped flange size the standards are too small fwiw the large are a bit big so nothin is perfect.
  • I got an extra set of the standard size flanges but I never used different sizes. I'm also pretty small chested so the standard size worked fine but my larger chested friends did buy bigger ones. I considered a manual pump just for shopping trips and evenings at friends houses etc where I didn't want to lug the whole electric pump but I never wanted to spend the money on it!

  • IMO prob not worth for $50. You can get both separetly for less. It's possible the regular flanges will fit. I bought larger flanges at first and didn't even need them.

  • Granted I only breastfed for a month but I never needed anything outside of the standard Purely Yours set. I hope this helps!

  • Thanks all. I changed my mind altogether and decided to go with the base model and saved myself $100. My SIL gave me a cooler bag and milk storage bags I can use and I'm just going to order the manual pump separately.

  • I have that pump, and I am not a fan of the hand pump that came with it.  I ended up purchasing this one and I looooooove it.

What don't you like about the Ameda hand pump and what do you like about the Lansinoh one?

The hand pump that came with my Ameda pump is a POS.  There is a little white part in the middle that falls out of the slot, rendering the pump useless.  Also it just feels cheap, like I could break it with one good pump.

I find the Lansinoh ergonomically more comfortable-- but that is personal preference.  Also, the Lansinoh came with a flexishield and the Ameda did not.  I am sure I could have purchased the flexishield for the Ameda, but it just wasn't worth it to me.

  • Ditto Amy, I hate that manual hand pump, so I've stuck with just the electric, and luckily I haven't had to lug it around (I will for work though). I may look into the Lansinoh manual one... good to know!

Also, I didn't use the extra sizes either, the standards worked just fine for me and my breasts got pretty big FWIW.
