I've been doing some looking on pinterest and reading posts on here and I think I am going to make those 4th of July wrapped wreaths for some family members. On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being uber complicated, how difficult would you say this craft is?
Thanks!
Re: Wrapped Wreaths
Disclaimer: I have never made one but I want to and this is my plan. I saw on Pinterest you can get a pipe insulator way cheaper than a styrofoam wreath...like this http://www.grassrootelegance.com/2011/08/yarn-wrapped-wreath-tutorial.html
My plan is to do this but instead of taping the ends together right away I am going to wrap it until close to the end and then tape them together. IMO it is easier to wrap something that is "open ended" rather than "close ended". Does that make sense? In my mind it doesn't seem too hard. I had started a project of wrapping a frame shape and it wasn't hard but since it was "closed" I thought it was more challenging.
Hope that helps!
Thanks!
Do you think you'll have any problems when you close the pipe insulator? Do you think the yarn will change it's shape b/c we've now changed the shape of the object wrapped?
I made a wreath this summer using the plumbing foam stuff - I never will again. I taped the crap out of it and it still turned into an egg shape (instead of staying round).
I just use the cheaper straw wreaths and wrap them with muslin before wrapping them with the colors I want.
