Home Security

Anyone have home security...other than a dog??

We're having some issues and the police recommended we have our house alarmed.

Re: Home Security

  • All I have is a fearless husband and a dog who would want her belly patted by an intruder.  I've always been miss naive about stuff like this, I'm so sorry you don't feel safe at your own home.  Yikes.

  • We don't and our dog is deaf!  We probably should.  Our truck was broken into, in our driveway, last week.  Nothing huge stolen, just about $0.75 out of the cup holder.  And they left it a mess.

    Good luck

  • We have northeast security systems for work (fire, water, etc) I looked at their website and they also do residential.

Sorry you are having issues, that really sucks!

  • We have a security system, the monitoring system Arco is out of Mass. The month to month is relatively inexpensive, $20 a month. System installation is all different depending on what you want though. Ours was about $1500, but DH installed it so we didn't have to pay for labor. But, DH went crazy and we probably have a lot more than is needed or the norm. There is a place out of Portland, Cunningham that is really good. We preferred not to go through ADT and other national companies for a bunch of reasons.

We also have a Yorkie who barks at a pin drop and then the hound in our puggle goes off!

Sorry you're having problems, that totally stinks.

  • Aw, Brianne that really sucks- I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

We've had a Northeast system at our house in Woolwich for going on 20 or so years now (motion sensor and door alarms), and my family has always been very pleased with it. The few times it has gone off, the response time has been very good- I actually had the Sheriff show up to a high school dance once because I left the alarm on and the pets set it off, efficient! I've heard from others that have had pretty good experiences with them as well, although I have no idea what it would cost for installation, monthly costs, etc.

    Good luck!
