I was going to join Angies List but I thought I'd ask here before doing that : )
Anybody have good concrete company recs?
Maybe even ones that have experience in digging out and lowering basement floors?
Thanks!
Re: Concrete companies?
We found J&M Concrete on Angie's List and were very happy with them. They replaced a garage wall that was caving in and jacked up our house to dig out a ~4x8' frost footing. We got a few quotes and J&M's was right in line with the other contractors', even though they did more work and used better materials (i.e., another contractor wanted to use 8" block instead of 12" and wanted to pull out our fence to drive machinery behind our garage and wreck our landscaping while J&M just used shovels and wheelbarrows the old fashioned way). Plus, they said it would take a week and they ended up finishing after about 3.5 days.
Mark, the owner, was at our house for most, if not all, of the project and I found him to be very approachable and easy to work with. Really, we had no complaints...except that this kind of stuff is pretty expensive no matter who you go with

We have used Armstrong Concrete in the past for work on replacing a sidewalk and they did a good job. Not sure if they would do basement work, but you could always ask.
It's a smaller, locally owned business, and the owner does the estimates and supervises the work. He is friendly and conscientious, and we felt good working with him.
Voehl Construction out of Prior Lake does an EXCELLENT job. They are very good at what they do.
Darcy Voehl (owner) is easy to work with and definitely makes sure the job is done right.
They have a website. voehlconstruction.com
Thanks everybody! I'll start calling tomorrow.
We're trying to make the hard decision of selling our home for a pretty big loss or finish the basement of our old St. Paul house. We've officially outgrown our 990 sq ft : ) lol
Thanks again!
