how was everyone's weekend?
How was everyone's weekend and holiday? Did you buy anything? Did you start decorating for Christmas or will you only start later?
Re: how was everyone's weekend?
I had a great Thanksgiving weekend. LOOOOVED having four days off and it's so hard to be back today.
I haven't done any BF or Cyber Monday shopping at all. It just doesn't feel like holiday season to me yet and I kind of can't believe we've already had Thanksgiving. I need to come up with some good gift ideas. Sigh.
We did start decorating though. The weather was ridiculously gorgeous here over the weekend so I took the opportunity to string some outdoor lights. We bought our tree on Saturday and I'm still waiting for it to open up more. Right now there are just lights on it but I'll probably start decorating it tonight. Fireplace mantel is all decorated already.
I won't be putting up nearly as much stuff this year because we're not hosting for the first time in about four years (DH's requested to take a break). It's less fun to go nuts with the decorations if no one else is going to see them!
I had a decent weekend. I went to San Diego to visit my dad's family for Thanksgiving. It was the first time we've seen them since my dad's funeral, so it was nice.
Unfortunately I got a nasty cold at some point, so I've been trying to get over that for the past couple days. My mom put up Christmas lights on the house this weekend and put some decorations out inside. I don't know if I'm really feeling Christmas yet... I want to get into it, but so far I feel a little Scrooge-y with C being gone.
No shopping for me this weekend.
My weekend was okay. DH and I spent Thanksgiving alone. We walked for a couple of hours around our neighborhood and could smell people's turkey being roasted. I had a nervous breakdown (if that's what one calls it) but am feeling much better now. We didn't do any shopping and have not put the Christmas decoration yet.
Our weekend/holiday was great! We spent Thanksgiving chilling on the couch and I finally started our meal at about 4pm. It was all the fixings but we grilled turkey tenderloins instead of roasting a whole turkey for two people. No stress whatsoever, loved it.
Friday and Saturday we wandered around a couple of small towns, window-shopping/browsing and buying some little things.
Sunday we watched movies pretty much all day, then did our Christmas cards in the evening.
I feel relaxed and refreshed. Every TG weekend should be like that.
I had a busy weekend. We drove to Fresno for Thanksgiving on Thursday, drove home Friday, dropped Rose off with my mom for the night on Friday and went to my high school reunion, then picked Rose up on Saturday and celebrated a late Thanksgiving with my mom. All this was done with a husband who had a horrible cold.
I finally put my Halloween decor away Wednesday night (oops) and brought out some of my Christmas decorations because I didn't feel like packing for our overnight trip.
4 days off in a row was super fabulous. kinda dreaded coming back to work today.
thanksgiving was pretty good, spent half at the in laws and half at my parents. slept in friday and decided i wanted to check out some couches i saw on the jc penny add. 3 piece set of super comfy couches for $798
OH and i bought the taylor swift perfume, which i imagine smells like her..lol so good..i love her, she's so adorable.
no other shopping was done, however we did watch The Muppets..super cute movie btw.
sunday i didn't do a darn thing, stayed in my pj's all day and had a six feet under marathon
We had a great weekend with T's family in Boston. I ran a 5 mile race on TG morning and since T plays football on TG morning, my MIL came with me and she was a great cheerleader! Saturday, friends of ours had a gtg for all of us and it was fun. I had a brief moment of almost losing it because all the girls talked about were their kids. They each have 2 and I felt a little bit isolated. I loved seeing the kids, but it was a little tough and I really didn't expect that. But that night, T and I met his brother and friends in town and had a great time. Lots of laughs.
I made my Xmas list and was planning on going out after work tonight to get a jump start but I threw out my back this morning so I am feeling pretty miserable.
We did some decorating yesterday when we got home and will get our tree this week. I was feeling a little scroogy this year but I decided to throw myself into the season and drag my husband along for the ride. I'm looking forward to decorating the tree on Friday night and spending the evening together.
I too had a fabulous four day weekend of eating and enjoying the time with loved ones.
Hosting our 1st TG was AWESOME. Everything turned out great. I got through the rough moments w/MIL with some wine. Friday we veged but managed to do some light Christmas shopping.
Saturday we put our Christmas lights
Yesterday we got our tree but it has not be decorated.
all in all
Oh and I have exercised every day during the 4 day weekend. Go me!
It was good. We had DH's family here for Thanksgiving Tues-Thurs. It was fun and we had a good experience our first time hosting. And our table looked nice. And fall has finally come.

It was just an ordinary week for most kiwis...but we did host our annual American Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday evening. It was nice...busy with the baby and cooking and entertaining and then cleaning up afterward.
No crazy shopping at all. Black Friday and Cyber Monday doesn't exist here! It's a very good thing. I am sure we will be out looking for deals on Boxing Day!
Have not done any Christmas decos yet. Well, I did give DS the Christmas rubber duckies from the shelf to play with.
Yikes- I'm glad you're feeling better, but sorry you had a rough weekend. I hope everything's ok!
