Turkey day survival

Everyone make it through without too much overstuffing? I'm supposed to be getting ready to leave for work in 3 minutes, but after 5 days off, I'd rather take a nap.

Re: Turkey day survival

  • I survived mine and managed to get my tree up.  Now I am working on getting my Christmas cards made.  I didn't realize how concerned I would be that they look perfect when I decided I would make them this year.
  • I avoided family and took pizza to the hospital for my DH and shopped until 5AM buying gifts for the women's shelter in my hometown.  That's a success for me.  The only pumpkin in our house is in beer and cider form.  I'm all about avoiding holidays this year, except NYE.
  • Our thanksgiving was a bit somber this year. It was my in-laws' year (both for us to be there, and for them to host - they rotate among the aunts), so my MIL was already going crazy trying to get everything set up, and a week before turkey day, the family dog passed away. Because of this, and both her kids no longer living at home (SIL bought a house and her bf and his 2 sons moved in with her), she decided it was pointless to do a tree this year. They also had to put one of their cats down last month, and the other cat ran away, so in less than a month, they're all petless.
