flooring for the entire home...

We recently bought a home and have been thinking of replacing the flooring throughout the entire home. Budget does not allow it so we have been debating on which rooms to do...def. the living room but I want the kitchen to get new tile and FI thinks all bedrooms (he has clearly lost it...IMO). Also need to start shopping around...not sure if some of these places/prices are good. Any info would be great.

We've done a lot of flooring.  Tile is cheap if you pick the right kind.  We have slate and it was very inexpensive.  However, I wouldn't use our installer...

EZ Floors.  We've used them in 2 houses now & referred them to countless people.  Much cheaper than anywhere else we looked (and we shopped around a lot), good customer service, excellent installers.

I'd start with the rooms you use the most... Living room, Kitchen, Bathroom.  Then as budget allows move to the other rooms.  

 

In our old house, we did Laminate in the living room/halls and kept carpet in the bedrooms.  I didn't see the need to spend the money to upgrade in guest bedrooms we aren't using.

The store we went through offers 0% interest for 18 months.  We replaced all of the flooring with tile and laminate 2 years ago and they were great with installation.  It's A+ Floors for You in Katy off Grand Parkway.

When DH was unemplyed he "tiled" our house himself. We got Travertine from Floor and Decor (I45 near Almeda Mall but I think there are several locations in Houston). They have some travertine that is really inexpensive. They were very good about exchanging broken tile and refunding for unused/returned tiles.
