A few questions

1) Someone has to explain the cranberry sauce to me...it can be cooked and just taken out of the can?  Fill me in--I might actually have to make it one day!

2) How do you post from an iphone?  I just broke down and got one.

  • 1. you can get real cranberries and cook them on the stove with water and sugar or you can buy them out of the can.

    Some folks buy the regular in the can that literally slides out and they just cut it and that's that.

    I buy the ones in the can that are WHOLE cranberries and then I mix it with marmelade and pecans or walnuts but the stuff out of the can doesn't have to be cooked unless you watn it warmed up.

  • I don't ever post from my iphone so I can't help with that, but I started making homemade cranberry sauce last year.  I never liked the stuff from the can and decided to try the homemade version since no one else in my family seemed to mind the canned stuff.  It is super easy (like Cole said just waster, cranberries and sugar on the stove) and so much better tasting.
  • this is how i post from my iphone but i don't know if it will be different for you because i have the 3. but basically i have to go to my settings, then safari, then turn off java script. then i have no problem just posting like normal. it is however a pain to do long posts because in order to do paragraph breaks you have to type "<*p>" (without the star). that will give you a return so you have to do that twice to start a new paragraph. HTH! also don't forget you've turned off java script because a lot of sites don't work until you turn it back on.

  • I am no help with the cranberry, but on my iphone I just post like I normally do. I had to turn java off in the past, but now I don't. I don't know if that's b/c I downloaded an upgrade or what.

    I have no idea how to PIP from my phone though. I tried doing the link like normal, but it didn't work when Java was on or off.

  • The can kind can (as in may :)) be served straight out of the can... just plop and you're done.  That said, the homemade kind LSU was talking about is sooo much better (I don't like the can stuff, but homemade, relish type is great).

    I just post from my iphone like Kare said... I just got it in Oct for my bday.  Totally unnecessary; BUT, having it now, I really do like the convenience... esp for travel!  Hope you enjoy yours too!!!

  • Yes, as stated above, you can use whole fresh cranberries and cook them on the stove with sugar and water.  That's the basic recipe and all you really need and it'll taste 20 times better than the canned stuff.  I add bourbon, brown sugar, orange zest and walnuts.  It's super easy, but I was preoccupied that night and let it cook down too long.  So the next day it wasn't bad just thicker and stiffer than I normally like it. 

  • I love homemade cranberry sauce. I do not like the jellied can kind but the whole berry canned kind is not bad at all.
