Runners check in!

Its been too long ladies, how is everyone? Are you still running? What are your current goals?

  • I'm still running.. although pretty slow these days. I haven't had a chance to get in as many runs this last week as I would have liked, but after my shower this weekend, I hope to have more free time again.

My current goal is to get back to 3 times a week no matter the distance or speed. I'm down to 2 times a week right now due to time constraints. Running is harder for me now though, but I'm still plugging away.

I hope to run until my due date, but I've almost made my initial goal of running until 32 weeks.  Not too shabby. People are shocked I am still out there doing it. Its kinda funny.

Love this!! I wish I had time to do it but I just don't see it happening with all the classes and stuff we have going on.

  • I am running my first half marathon in February.

So far I have been averaging about 10 miles per week. I started in the beginning of November so I am taking it really slow.

  • I've been out since Sept. with a foot stress fracture and knee problem, so I'm not running these days (and it's SO hard!!). It happened right before what would have been my first half marathon and I went from 35-40 miles a week to nothing, so I was pretty bummed for a while. My foot is fine now, but because of insurance issues with me being here, I need to wait until I get back to Japan to get my knee figured out. I'm trying to take it easy and just do what I can on ellipticals/bikes/swimming/weights until then. I did try running a couple of miles last week just to test how my knee was doing and even that felt SO good! I'm not trying to push things though. I can't WAIT to get back into it again... someday!

I know it is a huge commitment and it sucks how I have to do most of my running inside but it holds me accountable..even if it is only a mile!

  • Lost my running mojo in early October but all for good reason. I have been trying to walk my dog 2-3 miles when I'm not feeling nauseous or tired, but so far nausea is winning. However, my husband has picked up running so I'm happy he's running again and taking the dog too.

  • Since my half marathon in early October, I've sort of fallen off the running wagon.  When I'm not training, I find it hard to get out there.  I was trying to run 3-4 times per week, but that was spotty.

I ran a 10k on Thanksgiving with an injured foot.  Went for my normal run last Monday (before Turkey Day) and could hardly walk come Tuesday.  The ball of my foot/big toe on my left foot hurt SO bad.  I literally couldn't run on Wednesday-put my sneaks on, hit the pavement, and 20 seconds later, I was back home.  Pain was SO bad.  Went to doc today-she referred me to a podiatrist and didn't diagnose much; possibly some arthritis in there.

So, here I am.  Contemplating a run tomorrow.  We'll see with the pain.  I hope to run another half marathon in March/April.

p.s.-thanks for reading all of that!!

Sorry to hear about your injury. have you ever had A.R.T (advanced release technique) done? I've seen a sports chiropractor off & on for the last 2 years who specializes in this and it helped with my ITBS and other ailments. I know of one in your area if you're interested. I haven't seen him myself but he's a colleague of my sports chiro and has been recommended by other runners I know. Let me know.

No, I've never even heard of it.  What does it entail?  Is it painful?  Any referral would be great.  Thanks!
