Carter James is here!!
Born today at 5:54pm, weighing 9 lbs 11 oz, 22 1/4 inches long. I had a dr appt this morning at 10am, where I was 4cm dilated. My contractions started at 1:30pm, by the time I got to the hospital around 3:30pm, I was 8cm already. I progressed quickly to 10 (and the contractions didn't even hurt that bad!) They let me labor until I felt ready to push, I pushed 4 or 5 times and he was here! Love him so much already, oh and SO HAPPY TO NOT BE PREGNANT ANYMORE!!!! haha
Grr and for some reason I cannot upload a picture, but I know Trickey and Naylon both have one, so if one of you can add it to this thread, I would appreciate it. Thanks!!
Re: Well so much for my labor buddies.....
Wow, what a whirlwind! I am so glad that Carter has finally arrived, and that you are not pregnant anymore! Good thing he came when he did, he is a big boy:)
Congratulations again, Katie! Welcome to the world, Mr. Carter and congrats to big brother, Jack!
Enjoy your boys<3
Our crazy, wonderful life
That is my kind of labor (really, it is very similar, LOL). Except you get the award for saying that contractions "didn't hurt that bad," and FOR THE SIZE OF THAT BABY. Dear lord, woman.
I'm assuming you didn't get an epidural because of how fast it all went? Did you go drug free with Jack, too? Was Jack's labor fast? I'm just curious how the second one compared to the first.
ANYWAY.
Welcome Carter, and congratulations to you! I saw the pics on Facebook and he is beautiful! I think I see a little resemblance to Jack, or am I nuts?
Blog
I thought the same thing.
Congratulations, Katie!!
My boring blog
Congrats to Mom, Dad, and big brother Jack!! He is a cutie
Glad you labor was fast and that he's finally here!!!

Way to slack, partner.
You having Carter last night was the last thing I expected.
In other news ... someone must have replied all to your text because I got a text that said, "how's baby?" and I was like, "whoa" ... so I sent back, "Hey, hot stuff."
LOL!
Then I saw your text and I felt like an idiot.
I'll steal your FB pic and add it here.

I wasn't slacking! I never got the text, dang it. I was most certainly not ZUMBAing my arse off at the time.
I'm fired. I suck at partnering.
At least you have a good excuse.

Congratulations Katie! Welcome Carter, Happy Birthday.
He is beautiful! And you deserve a metal for pushing out a 9lb 11oz baby!
Thanks ladies!!! And yes, he does look like Jack - from the nose down they are identical, we will see how similar they look from the nose up once Carter starts losing his newborn-ness. <-----I know, nice word.
Let's see, with Jack I was 4cm dilated at my dr appt the afternoon of my due date, contractions started that night at 9pm, I was at the hospital by 12am, he was born at 430am. No epidural. It went too fast.
Carter was similar, except instead of 7.5 hours start to finish, it was 4.5 hours. So I shaved 3 hours off my time, haha.
In both cases, the contractions hurt (of course) but they weren't anything I couldn't focus and breathe through. With Jack, the dr broke my water at 8cm, with Carter she broke my water when I was 10cm. In both cases, that made the contractions more intense.....enough so that if I was anywhere but that close to the finish line, I would absolutely have had an epidural. But when you are that close.....I felt I could tough it out, and both times the boys were born very soon afterwards.
I know I am lucky, my body does pregnancy and labor/delivery extremely well. I think that's how it should be for everyone, both times it was such a good experience for me!!!!
So jealous of this! That's awesome, and I am so glad that it was so easy considering his size. Liam was just a wee bit smaller (9lbs, 6oz) but the labor and delivery was not as amazing as yours sounded!
Enjoy those boys! They are both too cute!
