Christmas morning breakfast
DH & I are starting our own traditions so that we can make sure we have our family time [once we start having our little ones] and not just going straight to the IL's. So, what do you make for Christmas morning breakfast? I'd love to hear some ideas!
Re: Christmas morning breakfast
ILs just make the standard bacon, eggs, pancake breakfast.
I've made this quiche a bunch of times and it's great. DH luuuves it and will ask for it for dinner sometimes. It doesn't last long here, even with just the two of us.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I buy the chocolate croissants from Trader Joe's- in their frozen section. Super easy!
I may need to try TH&R's quiche recipe, DH loves quiche!
One year I made pumpkin pancakes topped with a bit of powdered sugar.
Usually what happens is we share one of these that I make to take to a Christmas get-together.
French Toast with icing sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top
Cheesy scrambled eggs
Homemade hot chocolate with whipped cream and candy cane crumbles
We are making this for this years Christmas Morning...
Pecan Praline Baked French Toast (prepared the night before)

Chi_lyn -- that pumpkin roll looks DELICIOUS.
We're hosting brunch this year as the first year at our own house (my in-laws are coming over). We're having a ham, quiche and something sweet (sticky buns or those chocolate croissants sound good). I figure I can make the quiche a day or two ahead and the ham is easy. I'll probably buy the sweets and maybe do some fruit.
Growing up, we had a ton of food. Ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, english muffins, donuts and milk shakes. Or at least it seemed like a ton for the 4 of us.
My mom always make an egg bake call Christmas Morning Egg Bake. You put it together the night before and then just toss in the oven on Christmas morning (or whenever you want to eat it).
It's one of only a few traditions my family has with just my parents and siblings/spouses. Sometimes we have it on Christmas morning and sometimes we have it later depending on when we get together to open presents.
We have a recipe for a baked French toast with a cranberry sauce. Mmmm...
I also make hash brown potatoes with pieces of red and green peppers - very Christmas-y looking.
Im going to be just like Santa and stop by all of you ladies home
yummy~yummy!
We do old school breakfast casserole (sausage & egg) and monkey bread for Christmas morning breakfast. Family tradition. The last couple of years my mom has been with us and MIL and SIL join us to watch the kids open presents. Last year we also had a friend join us whose family was unexpectedly out of town. Our door is pretty much open to anyone who wants to join us on Christmas morning!
I make french toast casserole. Yummmmmm!
Bonus: You can make it the night before and just put it in the oven when you start opening presents.
We have an egg bake that I assemble the night before. I buy a bag of frozen shredded potatoes and cook them with some chopped onion in a little bit of oil and season them too taste. Spread the potatoes in a casserole dish. Then I add a layer of meat(either browned sausage, bacon, or ham) Add a bunch of shredded cheese. Crack a bunch of eggs into a bowl, mix them all up and dump on top.
Cook it the next morning for at 375 for about 30-40 minutes.
We do cinnamon rolls and coffee first thing in the morning and then have a late breakfast/brunch over at my parents' house. That consists of a quiche or breakfast casserole, danishes and other breakfast pastries, ham, carmelized pears, and sparkling cider or mimosas.
Last year we did a sausage and egg casserole and a pecan cream cheese danish.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do this year, I'm also hosting Christmas dinner at my house, so we'll need a heavy breakfast to hold us until about 3:00.
