iPad 2 with 3g....how much data?

Santa might be getting us an iPad 2 for Christmas. i am curious on the wireless plans associated with this on the monthly data limits. If you are on one of these plans, are you using more than your alloted amount? I am not really sure how that works.

we are thinking of Kindle Fire too as another option but i think the iPad is the better option.

Re: iPad 2 with 3g....how much data?

  • AT&T has a data calculator to help estimate how much data you might use... maybe that will help?

We went with the wifi version because SO can create a hotspot with his phone and unlimited data plan anywhere.

  • thanks for this. we have a very basic cell and text plan (it's like $80 a month for two phones) so no data plans on the phones ...but that's good to know!

How does he do this? I knew I had heard their was a way to, but at Best Buy they told me the only way was to buy their little hotspot gadget w/a two year plan or to order a hotspot plan for my phone.

There's an app available for jailbroken iPhones called PdaNet.
