What gift for Grandma in nursing home?

My 80 yr old gradma is in the nursing home. What is something that I could sew for her? Clothing is not an option as her weight and size changes constantly. I already made her a couple matching pillow cases, but I have run out of ideas.

  • What about just a throw?

  • She use a walker? A nice little walker hold it all would be nice.

Or a wheel chair bag that attaches to the back would be nice.

  • Not sewing related....but I would make her a photo album of you and your LO. The old people in my life value those books like gold. :)

  • I'm sure she has a bedside table, why not a nice little table runner?
  • Does it have to be something you sew?  If so, I agree with a throw.

I think my grandpa really liked the photo calendar my sister put together for him.  Snacks were also good.  Nice slippers with non-slip bottoms.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • How about a capelet or shawl? Something pretty she can throw over her shoulders and fasten so it doesn't fall off.

My 90yo great aunts are into scarves. The thin kind you tie over your hair like Marilyn Monroe.

Something to tie onto wheelchair or walker to carry stuff. A bedside caddy to stick a remote or book in.

Stuffed animal or blanket. Maybe one with pictures printed on it.

  • i like the idea of a blanket/quilt with pics on it.  it could be lap size, doesn't need to be bed size.

when my gram had surgery on her hip she wasn't supposed to do much at first.  i made her this cool blanket with big pockets on it.  she could sit in her fav chair and have a place to put her glasses, remote control, small book, tissues, cough drops, all while in reach.  she really loved it!
