So, my ILs are going to Italy for the holidays, as they always do. We just came back from vacation and are pretty booked this weekend.
They leave on the 13th and we know that the days before they leave they'll be stressed out because they're about to travel. (They do this trip at least 4 times a year, but they still get nervous, it's just who they are.)
Next weekend, on the 10th, they do their Sinterklaas (Dutch Saint Nick) thingie, which they always do with my SIL's family. We're always invited, but never go, because FH can't stand his sister (and I'm no fan of her either, to be honest).
Now I do think we should see them before the holidays and going on Sunday the 11th won't work (they'll never say no, but I know it'll stress them out waaaayyyyy too much especially the day after Sinterklaas, they already lost half their weekend before traveling with that.)
What do you think? Do I tell FH to just suck it up and deal with spending time with his sister and her family and make him go the 10th, or should I just let it go and we don't see them until well into January (or even February, depending on schedules when they get back.)
It's just so weird, it's not my family, I never go through that much trouble to see mine, but his parents are old, and lovely, and I know how excited they are when we visit. It just seems so mean not to go by before they leave.

Come to Italy and we can all have an Xmas toast?!
Seriously though, I'd try to do the celebration w/ SIL. Good karma to H for being the bigger person to put up w/ her drama/silliness/whatever.
Would love to do the 'come to Italy' suggestion :-)
Thanks for your opinions, it's always good to get some feedback. Now let's hope he listens when I tell him to suck it up. It'll be a struggle, but one that's worth it, I think!
