What's everyone doing this Friday? Cool costumes? Fun parties? Do you dress up your animals?
K really wants to go out this year so we're trying to make plans with friends. I have to work but will probably get out around midnight. Plus, work is having a costume contest so I'll probably wear mine to work. I'm not feeling creative this year so I'm going as a french maid, since I already have the costume. I tried to convince K that I should be a professor and she should be a naughty school girl but that just got a laugh.

Re: Halloween plans
At work we always have a big thing - it is a children's hospital. So we'll have lots of people/kids dressing up and a contest in the morning. It is always fun.
That evening, we'll dress the kids up (they are going to be monkeys) and we'll be zoo keepers. We'll take them to a couple of houses in our neighborhood, but mostly we'll hang out in our driveway and hand out play-doh (we aren't giving out candy) while the kids play and see the other kids.
We were invited to a fabulous Halloween party on Saturday night, but couldn't find a sitter, so we aren't going - which bums me out since I had a great costume idea. Humph. Maybe next year.
IT's J's little sisters birthday (She'll be 12), so we will be hanging out there, and then the beloved sister in law, also my bff, made her 2 yorkies, and our pup, Pumpkin Costumes.
So Olivia is going to be Cinderella, and the three dogs are her pumpkins. :-)
I am very excited.
j - professor and naughty school girl woudl have been awesome! you have to work on that one for next year, lol
2brides - too bad you guys don't live closer, i would love to watch your cuties! they are going to be adorable as little monkeys
I'm actually really excited for halloween this year because i'm hoping, hoping, hoping that we'll get some trick or treaters now that we have a house. last year i bought a ton of candy, left work early, got in my costume, got lilly in her costume, and sat anxiosly w/ bowl in hand.....not a single kid showed up! it was very sad.
i'm cautiously optomistic that i'll have more luck this year.
after handing out candy we'll be heading out w/ our group of friends to the local gay bar/club. I"m going to be marilyn monroe and Andrea's going to be a cop.

we're not sure yet. c was supposed to work mandatory overtime, but they cancelled it. we got invited to a party that we're not thrilled about going to, although we may make an appearance. some friends of ours are having a get-together that night so we'll likely go there.
i hate dressing up, i can never come up with a good costume idea. i did it last year because i was told if i didn't i'd be given something to wear, and that's even worse. i bought something cheap at some chain store and threw it on. this party is costume optional, so unless i can come up with some really great (and cheap) idea by friday i'll be going as myself. c will probably just wear her camo pants and a t-shirt or something like that.
oh, although i did get new motorcycle boots last weekend. i could wear that with c's leather jacket and some jeans, and a white t-shirt or something like that. then it would be costume-like, but i wouldn't feel totally uncomfortable or freeze my butt off...
We were thinking about buying some candy and putting a little halloween decoration on our porch in hopes of trick-or-treaters because we do have some kids on our street (this is our first halloween not in a big apartment building). But I'm not sure now because C won't get home until later in the evening, and all the local kids seem to be pretty little, so I think they'll be out early (I don't think it'd be as much fun waiting for trick-or-treaters alone).
C gets to wear a costume to work - she's going to use her old Harry Potter Hogwarts robe (back when I had short hair, we went as Harry and Ron - with C's red hair it was perfect!). And I may pull something out of our collection to wear for my nanny babies - the older one kind of knows what halloween is - maybe my witch hat?
We don't have any local friends that host parties, and we are not really nightlife people... So until we have kids, it's not much of a holiday for us.

Ah! Everyone has such great ideas! We're hoping to hand out the candy too this year, now that we live in the 'burbs instead of downtown.?
We bought hats today. Angi's is a metallic rooster looking thing and mine is a safari cap. Somehow we're going to put together costumes around them and make do.
Last year we had such a fun house party. I cooked all day and decorated everything. I took mid 1800s photographs, matted them, and wrote the persons name with a creepy way they died on the mat. Then we hung them all over the ceiling. It was a blast.
This year, it's just the good old gay club. Wish I was near all of you and we could party together!?
I did that last year too! I ran home from work, decorated the front porch, got in my costume and then sat...and sat...and sat. The doorbell rang once and it was too kids from down the block. That was it. A lot more kids have moved into our neighborhood since then so I think we might have better luck this year.
2 brides--that is super cute. I will remember that one. I love that you give out Play-doh! We ran out of candy (after buying 3 bags!) and then I started giving out stickers. It was later at night and the kids had already gotten lots of candy, so they were excited to get something different!
We finally decided on costumes last night--now we have to go shopping and put them together. This is the first Halloween we've both have off in awhile, so I am excited! The neighborhood kids came Sat night & I LOVE sitting on the porch and telling them how cute/scary/pretty they are. One kid even had this cool mask and I made him stay on the porch while I got Lori so she could come see it. I'm a dork. We are going to be Peppermint Patty & Marcy. We are going to a bar, a party at a friends house, & then I woudl love to stop by the gay bars, too, but we'll see.
