What are you getting your DH and kid(s) for the holidays?
Post even if you think your gifts are boring.
Re: What are you getting your DH and kid(s) for the holidays?
DH is getting a green screen (video thing, his hobby), North Face fleece, and possibly a Kindle Fire or a netbook.
We're getting the LOs a play kitchen, a cozy coupe, a shopping cart, play food, a toddler basketball hoop, and new clothes. Other things we have on the list that the grandparents asked for are a doll stroller, baby doll, new sleep sacks, books, and possibly a second Anywhere chair.
We do Christmas and Hanukkah, so we're spreading the LOs' gifts over both holidays.
DH:
Deluxe Edition DVD package of the 30 for 30 documentaries from ESPN
Dallas Mavericks zip up hoodie
Bacon Press for cast iron skillet
??? I need a couple more things
Dog:
1 holiday themed stuffed animal
1 package of grain free holiday treats
Stand up for something you believe in.
We haven't completely decided, but I think DH and I are just getting a new TV as our gift to each other.
No clue what I'm getting H for Christmas.... and her bday is 4 days before so I need to come up with a few ideas!
Well, we decided on a $25 limit for our gifts to each other since we usually just buy whatever we want ourselves and we've had a spendy fall with a fridge and Italy.
So I'm getting the hubz a packing cube (so he stops taking mine), a monkey mug, and some lounge-around type shorts. SO exciting, I know!
For nieces/nephews:
3 1/2 yr old boy: a flipping toy dog (yes, THAT one from the mall... he asked for it!); Monster Clompers; train engineer costume
6 yr old boy: punching bag/glove set; mini RC robots
8 yr old boy: (he wants to be an author) Rory's story cubes, Spilling Ink: a writers handbook (maybe too old for him, but he's smart)
13 yr old boy: RC helicopter; a GC somewhere
4 mo old girl: soft Christmas book; some puzzle/crib gallery thingy
2 1/2 yr old girl: underwater scene floor puzzle; Touch the Art (Van Gogh) book; Christmas book
8 1/2 yr old girl: WS cook book for baking for kids; safetypin bracelets kit; something else I don't know yet
ALLL from Amazon, with free shipping
Sorry local economy, I got a free trial of Amazon Prime and I'm not into the holidays this year. This is all I can manage. Maybe next year I'll support the little guy!
I am so excited for my gift to DH - we love Jim Gaffigan (a comedian), and tickets went on sale yesterday for shows in February. I actually missed out on tickets at first, and both shows sold out. Then I saw last night that he added another show, and managed to get tickets! Woo hoo! The great thing is that yesterday I told DH that I tried to get tickets and couldn't. So he still thinks that we missed out, and will be so surprised to get them!
I'm thinking of getting this bouncy thing for DD, but it's a little pricier than what we would ordinarily spend. Someone lent one to us once, and she absolutely loved it, and I know it'd be a good way for her to burn off some energy, especially when it's cold out (it fits in our basement). So the price may be worth it.(I can't insert the link - this is it:
http://www.amazon.com/Little-Tikes-452H-Bouncer/dp/B000BPEL0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322854056&sr=8-1)
- Autographed Good Eats cookbook (I'm very excited to give him this one!)
- A couple of books about cocktails that I know he wants
- Clothes
- A couple of small kitchen gadgets
- Arm band so he can run with his iphone
I wish I had something "big" to get him, but he hasn't expressed interest in anything.
For the little guy:
- Books
- Play food
- Toy broom and dustpan (sounds weird, but he loves our big ones)
- Toy rake and shovel for outside
- Weather shield for the BOB (ok, this is kind of for me, but he will also benefit)
- Ball for outdoor play
- I think the grandparents will get him clothes
DH & i will probably do a $50 limit on each other this year given that we just got back from vaca. i haven't made any concrete decisions on gifts but he's easy to shop for so that helps. i plan to keep my eye on living social and groupon deals for places we like (or want to go) and i'll probably do a few coupons for video game time and dates. maybe a lego star wars thing (note: dude is almost 35) :P
for my bff's daughter, i am still deciding but i'm thinking something like taking her on a zoo date with auntie & uncle cheeky and the ornament we found in barcelona that looks like a christmas ornament version of her
i am super jealous of your daughter!!
DH: I think I am caving and getting him an XBox.
DD: we got her the huge aqua doodle mat, some play food, play dough, a sleeping bag (that looks like a dog) and some other odds and ends so far.
DH and I don't get e.o. gifts, we usually get something for us or the house; this year it may be a fireproof safe
we also don't get gifts for the kids since the grandparents go way way above and beyond, we figure - might as well get away with it while they are young and we can!
my condolences! if our netflix wasn't streamed via the xbox, i'd seriously take a hammer to it.
Just as an FYI, I considered getting this for DH as well, but was told they are coming out with a new one sometime in the next 12 months, and that I should wait for that one. Wanted to let you know!
DH and fam are "gift people" so this list is long. Also, I typically tell my parents and his parents what he wants, so this includes their gifts to him! Annnd, Hanukkah overlaps Christmas this year... we do both.

DH is getting a new sweater, a Where's the Beef t-shirt, a new book (Stephen King's Different Seasons), and the aforementioned Jim Gaffigan show tickets. Maybe a few other small stocking-stuffer things. His birthday is in two weeks so I have to split up the gifts a little (we have a price limit and I think I've already gone over).
DS is getting a train set (used, from DH's coworker), a train playhut, a bulldozer, a tote bag, and some books.
TTC #2: BFP 12/17/11, m/c 1/7/12 and D&C 1/12/12

I've got a Nikon D5000 and have a Tamron 10-24mm DiII ultra wide angle lens that I loooooooooove!
Lucky girl - I wish someone would buy me some new lenses... or a speedlite....
I did the same thing! We'll be there, too--maybe we'll see you

DH wants a treadmill, so I'm considering it. His b-day is in early January, so I am also considering a smoker. He is getting a canvas print of the kids.
I've been buying for the kids all year, so I've gone a little overboard but the "big" presents are a train table for DS and a baby and stroller for DD. They are also getting:
broom set
puzzles
books
stuffed animals
Chuck the Truck stunt park
tool box
And who knows what else I'll unearth in my stash
Completely jealous of the Gaffigan tickets, I had no idea he was coming to town!
We have an older version of that same bouncy house that we got from my SIL since her kiddos out grew it. It is awesome.
It is a great energy burner and we'll use it a lot this winter I think.
DH: nerf gun, nerf basketball hoop, cycling jacket and running jacket
DD: play food, tent/tunnel, wagon, tricycle & helmet
I did this for DH's birthday last year. HUGE hit.
DH and I set a limit, and I've gotten him a remote control helicopter and a book.
I will also do stocking stuffers of some sort.
LO is getting:
Radio Flyer push trike thing - http://www.amazon.com/Radio-Flyer-Classic-Tiny-Trike/dp/B00005BRNH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322858941&sr=8-1
Rocking moose from ikea
sleep sack
baby legs
Christmas outfit(s)
I've sent a list of other toys to the g-parents.
Thanks for the rec! She's taking a bunch of photography classes this year and has even been offered some paying jobs from her friends that are Seniors.
I think her Godfather is getting her a speedlite.
I may get DH a set of National Geographic magazines on DVD- it's every issue, spanning like 120 years or so. I have no idea what else. Maybe something game-related.
We got BIL's girlfriend's kiddo a pillow pet. That's it, since we've only met him once. That's the only kid in the family!

Dh:
-a ridiculous inflatable remote controlled shark. I thought it was stupid but he totally geeked out over it.
-either gift card to a local golf course or Flying Barrel for beer.
-the Shrek DVD set
-Maybe a goofy shirt from busted tees.com
C:
-play tool bench (his big gift)
-play dough
-books
- slippers (they're red and look like boots. There's some character he likes that wears red boots and he talks about them incessantly. )
- random stocking stuffers
I normally get DH something big and then a bunch of smaller things, but this year we're getting ourselves an imac - so we're just keeping is low key.
So far he's getting a video game, xbox live renewal subscription, and a sweater. I'll probably get him a couple other things.
For the dogs, they're getting probably new sweaters, yummy homemade treats and a couple toys.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
We have this bouncer in our basement. DD loves it.
DH just bought an air compressor today for himself and I bought myself some new sweaters so that way I get what I want.
We just bought new light fixtures for our kitchen, foyer, dining room, and living room so those are our gifts to ourselves.
DD is getting some board games, new pjs, animal figurines, books, a huge zebra stuffed animal, and a few other small items.
