Help! How to get Iphone contacts into addressbook?

I've googled and found people asking the same thing, but no real answer.  In Itunes I can sync my address book to my iphone, but not my iphone contacts to my address book. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can do this? thanks

Have you backed up your iPhone by clicking on your iPhones name while in iTunes (right click) and select back up?

My phone is backed up, but my mail application keeps quitting, so apple told me I will have to do a complete restore, which will delete everything. They said if I just copy the backup and put it right back on my phone, then the error probably won't be resolved.

I found this online. I'm assuming you've done this but I wanted to check. 

1) Plug your iPhone into your Mac. 2) Open iTunes if it doesn't open automatically. (And have mine set to Manually Manage rather than Auto sync when connected) 3) Make sure you have the iPhone highlighted in the left panel 4) Click on the Info tab in the right panel 5) Under 'Contacts' at the top, put a check in the 'Sync Address Book contacts'. Should have a check mark in 'All contacts' already, if not put one. 6) Go thru all the tabs and turn off everything you don't want to sync this time 7) Click on the Sync button at the bottom. It will then give you an information screen informing you of the changes that will be made to your computers Address book with as much detail as you like.

I have, thanks for trying though! when you do that, does it actually add iphone contacts into your address book on your mac?

Google on how to use Google Contacts and Exchange to sync back and forth.  I have it set up and whatever contacts I added on my iPhone 4 went to my Google Contacts, then when I set up my iPhone 4s, they synced right in.
