Gift Idea for 1-2 year olds..

Looking for 2 gift for my nieces 1-2 years old of age.  Any ideas would be a decent toy or any other ideas for gifts?  I already have some clothing..but figuring since we are the aunt/uncles we want to spoil them.

Re: Gift Idea for 1-2 year olds..

  • Anything fill-and-spill or stacking is great at that age.  Board / Cloth books are good too.  Puzzles with big peg pieces.

    Specific Stuff:

The fisher price Laugh and Learn: Learning Piggy Bank

     Playskool Ball Popper

Melissa and Doug, Pretty Purse Fill and Spill is very cute (picnic Basket is too)

The world of eric carle apple playset is also especially cute - another fill and spill

  • For the two year old....she might be a LITTLE young right now, but definately this is something she will enjoy...

A step stool with her name on it.  I got one that is also a puzzle (of the letters in his name) for my nephew, and he loved it!  Kids love being independent and using the stool to brush their teeth, wash their hands, etc.

Simple dress up clothes (if the 2 yo is a girl) - like a tutu skirt, nothing too fancy, a baby doll and / or crib, a doctors or other pretend kit.

A pop-up tunnel that they can crawl through.

For the one year old - - board books, puzzles (large pieces like wooden puzzles).

  • My go to item for 1 year old birthdays is the leapfrog fridge letters and numbers. Actually any of the fridge stuff is usually a hit. My go to item for 2 year olds is the crayola wonder mess free coloring sets.

  • Does she have a wagon?

or a tyicycle?  She will be riding a trike by the time she is 3.

This is a great one from Target

    Radio Steer & Stroll Trike

  • My niece is 18 months and lately has been really into taking care of her baby dolls, putting diapers on them and covering them with a blanket and putting them to bed. I bought her a baby doll stroller and some of those magic bottles where when you tip them it looks like the milk is disappearing.
  • When my older son was 1, I personally liked gifts he could grow into.   He loved a Melissa and Doug farm set that he got at his 1st Christmas and still plays with it.

For 1st birthdays, I often give a water table for the yard or something for the yard.   A wagon would be something nice that both of them could use.

  • Books.  DD loves having books read to her and can never have enough books.  It might be a lame gift for older kids, but DD is still excited to get new books.  She also really likes cars and doesn't get many since a lot of people consider them to be boy toys.  Her favorite toys from 1-2 are the Leapfrog Leaptop, Little People sets, Aquamat, Fisher Price doctor kit, and Megablocks.

  • If you want to buy a big gift for the both of them, my aunt and uncle gave us a wagon with a canopy and we used it ALL THE TIME.  It was so much better than a stroller and our kids loved it!  DS is 7 and he will still sit in it!
  • Here is something my 15 month old loves

Playskool Explore 'N Grow Busy Ball Popper - Hasbro - Toys"R"Us
