Good morning! Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
Re: Monday randoms
If anyone has any extra healing vibes today, I'd appreciate it if you could direct them toward Cleveland. My grandma is currently in surgery for a major operation on her back. It's a 5.5 hour surgery and quite complex due to her age and injury. (She broke her back last winter playing tennis -- I think I may have mentioned that here.) We're hopeful that the surgery is successful and she heals well.
Morning girls! My weekend was okay. Friday night we had a neighborhood Christmas party and had so much fun. We met two couples our age, one of which we're having over this Friday if I don't have the baby. Saturday I got a call from my OB (I'd had some labs drawn on Friday) and she wanted me to check into the hospital for 24 hours for monitoring due to one measly slightly elevated lab and the fact that my blood pressure is always high at the beginning of my appointments because I'm so anxious. I was upset about it but what choice do I have? I was there for all of 7 hours...my blood pressures were normal, the baby had good activity on the monitor and my labs were fine (the one lab even came down to normal). My OB wasn't at the hospital but per partner was and she just didn't think I needed to stay all night. Yay! I'm upset that we'll have to pay the hospital bill, but I have to admit that the high risk OB floor at Butterworth is NICE. The nurses were great, I had my own fridge, and they have a DVD player in every room with a huge list of movies to choose from to watch. I actually had Pride and Prejudice (my favorite movie of all time) picked out to watch that night.
Yesterday we went to IHOP for some yummy pancakes, Jim worked around the house, and then my parents came over to watch Hudson while we went to Toys R Us to do his Christmas shopping. Now I have to get everything wrapped and hidden before I pick him up from school! I hope everyone has a great day!
Lots of prayers heading her way! Tennis, huh? Go Grandma!
T&P for Kasa's Gma.
Busy weekend Goodgollie.
I got our christmas tree up and even hung up a couple stockings. My Advent wreath is on our table as well so I think were set. Unless I find more fun idea's on Pinterest.
DH is sick. I'm hoping it is just a 24hr bug and he'll be up at at em tomorrow. I have to take SS to Dr for a "Rx review" and I'm wondering if I should get a flu shoot for him. Are they even still available?
Morning lovely ladies!
I had a great weekend. Went shopping with a friend on Friday
. We Visited a Christmas tree farm on Saturday (and made the decision to do a potted tree, will do a separate post later on that for those that were interested). And on Sunday we listened to Christmas music, drank coconut egg nog (I am soy and milk free due to baby J) and put up our decorations. It was a good weekend!
I also put in an application to join a mom's group here, due to the persuading of the friend I shopped with on Friday. It is so hard to make new friends as an adult.
On less then positive news, it is a crabby house here today. SBJ is cutting his 1st tooth
and I just received my 1st postpartum AF
visit. (Which is BS, I am currently nursing almost every 2 hrs around the clock. I thought I at least had a few more months free).
As for SBJ and the tooth, any moms have any advice?
Kasa, that is graet news about Jinx! Yeah for snuggles. And I will keep you Grandma in my T&P!
Goodgollie, glad to hear all is good with you and the babe!
It is hard. I don't have many IRL friends, and I don't really know where to start looking. I don't have many hobbies. I did think about joining a Saturday running group through Striders though. It's something.
Me too! It super sucks. I also still BF (well, I pump now that I work FT) and was really annoyed. WTF?!
I agree that it's difficult to make new friends as an adult.
Wop, you sound like a super nice neighbor! Sorry to hear that your new neighbors aren't as polite.
Kasa many thoughts for your grandma!
I think AF staying away while BF is a HUGE rumor. I HIGHLY suggest looking into Mirena for BC. I haven't had AF in over a year. It's great!
)
Wop unfortunately not many people have good manners any more. It's one of my pet peeves!
I had a good weekend. Our elf is arriving today. I hope Brielle likes it!
I had a wonderful weekend.
Friday night I had dinner with my grandpa. He was very energetic and alert and talkative, it was wonderful. He even played tug-o-war with a blanket with Tennyson. Pretty silly considering he is 90. It was the best I've seen him since he got to Michigan in August. It was a lovely visit. Tennyson gave him lots of kisses too, which my grandpa absolutely LOVED. Melted my heart.
Saturday I went Christmas shopping in the morning with T, took a nap in the afternoon, and went to a 31 Bag party in the evening. I don't carry a purse, but I decided to not be anti-social and go out and try to make new friends. I had a blast! It was so fun (and no, I didn't buy a purse.)
I went ice skating with my older sister on Sunday, and then just hung around the house the rest of the day. We turned on the Christmas tree lights, shut all the other ones off, and turned on some Christmas music and danced.
Tennyson loves to dance.
Also, I sang Ring around the Rosy, The Alpahbet Song, and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star 5 bajillion times per T's request. He loves to sing.
Mira,
It was great seeing you and Baby J on Friday. You guys, you should be jealous that I got to see him.
He is so cute. He is so serious looking.
I'm so glad you are joining a mom's group. As I mention I regret letting my shyness get in the way and not doing more group activities with the girls. Plus, I was worried about you being over there all by yourself. Just remember, as with any group, you will have some people that you like and others that will annoy the heck out of you. And for those people, be sure to keep notes so you can share stories with us.
I went shopping this weekend at Great Lakes Crossings Mall this weekend and stocked up on some clothes for work and also for the girls. I got some great deals (but still had a hard time at how much I spent over all). On Friday when I was there with Mira, Gap has 50% the entire store and when I went back with Brian the next day it was only 40% off.
oh well, I still got some great deals. I also had a 15% off coupon that I used. I don't think I spent more that $23 on an item.
I also received some great deals for kids clothes. Allison bumped up to 5t shirts, so I needed to stock up. I think I spent $4.80 on shirts, $5 on casual pants, and $7 on some cords for her. She was excited about the cords, which made me happy, since she is weird about wearing pants other than her sweat pants or leggings.
I ordered a pair of fancy hiking socks for B for Christmas that he asked for. The package was just delivered. It's a large, padded envelope that is open and empty. No socks or anything in the envelope. It looks like the glue on the envelope failed and the contents were lost in transit.
The company should send me a replacement, right? Or am I SOL? I'll call them.
I called the company and they're going to send me another pair. No problem.
Good!
I'm annoyed with Dunhams. I went there on Saturday to get Mike some bowling shoes. I found a pair I liked on the display, and asked the sales associate for a size 12. He goes in the back, grabs a box, brings it out and does a visual check on the shoes to make sure they are a left and a right and a size 12. Puts the top back on and hands me the box.
I have T with me, so it's a slightly hectic shopping trip.
We go up to the cash register, and the check-out guy does the same visual check, left, right, 12. Tennyson is trying to run out the door. I hand the employee cash before he gives me a total and run after T.
Get my kid, get my change, and we're off.
I went to wrap it last night and did a quick look at the shoes before I wrapped them, and wtf - they've been worn! They are dirty on the bottom and the shoe laces were tied.
I'm not happy that I have to drive all the way back there to return them.
Mike went to the bank on Saturday to deposit/cash a check. Put $500 in the account and took $200 out as cash.
There is no record online of the money getting deposited.
Mike kept his receipt and is going to the bank this afternoon to get it straightened out. Please tell me it's going to be easy and they aren't going to screw me out of $500.
Hello. I'm glad to read about Jinx, and fun Nestie visits, and other happy news. I hope the frustrating stuff works out.
I'm peeping out from my hidey hole. I should be working on my paper. I've finally talked myself down from the panic that I've been in for about 24 hours.
Me too. And I know all about talking oneself down from panic. Me and the crazy person in my head have been having words. I wonder if I could sue myself for intentional infliction of emotional distress. Even though the crazy person in my head is probably an insolvent defendant, it would still be nice to get that public forum to voice my case.
That's funny, DP. I've been giving my internal crazy person all kind of trade labels too. Good luck to you!
Good luck to you as well!
I'm sure your trade labels for your internal crazy person are much more relevant to your studies
