B&M Monday

I slept most of yesterday away--two naps--and I don't regret it one bit.  I could have been putting away all the baking stuff that we bought, make our wreath or decorating our Christmas tree (which did arrive on Saturday morning and looks bigger than we remembered) but I slept instead.  Oh well.

My one big complaint is that the heater in my classroom continues to run.  It started before 7 AM this morning (I got here that early) and only stopped running a few minutes ago (and it's now 7:58 AM).  It literally is an oven in here and it will never cool off even a little all day long.  It makes the kids miserable and I think is the reason why I'm getting the headaches I have been lately.  At the end of the day, as soon as I step outside the building, my head no longer hurts.

Re: B&M Monday

  • I don't regret how much I slept either, Julie ;)  I am the odd man out in my office- everyone else will have their little heater on in addition to the heat already being on and I'm sitting here with my fan on.  Could you bring a fan in?

My B&M was that I have been unable to find my license and debit card since Saturday but I just found it.

Now that we are "social butterflies" (and by that I mean the only day we don't have stuff going on is Sunday but that's filled with housework, grocery shopping and fixing what broke the past week) DH is realizing/complaining that we have been eating out close to almost every night.  Sorry but I'm not getting home at 9 and cooking a meal.

  • I was super excited to go to that concert Saturday night and then DH got all upset with me and said he didn't want to go.  I was really confused as to why.  Apparently he was upset that I had said this guy was cute at one point.  (He is one of DH's friend's brother.)  I had made the comment when someone else brought it up and I just agreed with it and didn't mention it again.  I would've been way more understanding if he had told me this in the first place and hadn't let me buy the tickets and then told me an hour before the show....

That's silly!  I would have grabbed a girlfriend and gone.  Maybe he was just in a mood?

I offered to do that earlier in the day.  Because I knew he hadn't been sleeping well (but I hadn't been either...), I offered to take someone else.  He said no he would go and then told me last minute, so I didn't have time to find someone else.  This is the second fight we've had in the past two weeks where he told me he didn't want me doing something last minute.  Who is this person I married??  I don't know where this is coming from!

  • I have written and erased this a few times, because far be it from me to judge ANYTHING about someone's relationship based on what I read in an online forum. But seriously? That would not fly in my life. I respect my husband and we make decisions together, but his throwing a hissy fit does not affect what I do. I'd have gone by myself before I stayed home. I got married and gained a partner, not an at-home-boss.

  • Honestly, I would sit down and talk to him about it.  I am not involved 1st hand, but it seems like there may be something else bothering him than the actual issue at hand.  I would definitely bring up the fact that it's two different fights that he's done the same thing.

Yes  Definitely sounds like a talk is in order.

I agree with this.  When I typed "I would have grabbed a girlfriend and gone", I figured people would think I'm defiant or something, and that's not the case.  It's more like, I planned to have fun - with my husband - and if he wants to throw a fit and rain on the fun, I will do it without him.  There have been plenty of times where one of us left the other one because of a fight, or SOMETHING... but I think that staying only left him mad, and you feeling resentful.

Agreed, hope it all gets worked out.

My B&M is that I think I pulled my hamstring, its getting better but I am hoping with everything I have that it is virtually pain free by tomorrow night.

have been getting many texts everyday from both Matts sis and mom about presents for Matt.  I have given them all the suggestions I can then they have 20 follow up questions about what stores carry what and if he would like X instead.  Why ask for suggestions and they wont buy anything online which is what 90% of his list is about.  Also, his sis wants an ereader and we offered to go in half with his mom and now she wants us to compare them and send over the differences.  Why cant she do her own research and just say which one she wants.  I might be being a B, but this is why we always do very specific lists with links included.

  • I agree with you ladies.  There has to be something else bothering him.  He is never ever been like this in the four years we have been together.  It's just shocking to me because I didn't expect it out of him.  I will have to sit down and talk to him.  Although chances are he doesn't know why he's acting like this.  He's not very good at talking about emotions or anything.  I tried to explain to him Saturday night that I was upset because I had bought the tickets and now wasted my money.  Also, that I was disappointed at not going.  He can't handle disappointment.  :-/

Uh yea. Whenever I ask dans family what to get for their other family members, I never get any help. I couldn't imagine ME telling THEM to figure out what I want. (I can't really emphasize 'I' typed because I don't have bold on my phone, but I would if I could!)

  • Sarah - I hope things get better after you talk with your DH.

I was going to B&M about DH's truck battery, but after a call to AAA and a trip to the dealership it was replaced pretty quickly at no charge so thanks Ford.

  • So, we have a ton of money sitting in escrow and our taxes and insurance have already been paid.  I'm going on a conquest today to get our payment adjusted and figure a way to get our extra money out of there.

It's ridiculous, we could have been paying that amount to principle all year long.  Angry

  • So, I think Friday was the deadline for getting our ornaments in the mail, right? Well, I didn't. But it's because I haven't found anything anywhere NEAR cool enough, and I'm going to Disneyland on Thursday. So I hope my Secret Nestie will forgive her ornament being just a little late (but still handily before Christmas) because she'll be receiving it from the happiest place on earth. :)

I know with my mortgage they wait to see if your property tax gets adjusted, then re-evaluate the payment every year.  After they have re-evaluated it, they will refund me any additional funds and adjust our rate up/down.

  • Tiffany, I hate escow stuff - it's such a hassle and makes me feel dumb.

My B&M is car related... last night, when I was leaving my parents' house, my dad told me my car should not sound like that, and to get it checked.  I told him I'd been telling J that it sounded weird (and has been getting progressively weirder) but J didn't seem worried about it.  Well this morning, in addition to the normal roar that my car has been doing for at least a month when you first crank it up, there was some ridiculous banging and clanging.  So, J had to bring me to work, and I'm going to ride the train home & have him pick me up at the station.  And also, the thing he thinks it is now could explain some problems it was having a few months ago.  If it is what he thinks it is, then he can fix it for about $250... but, I'm worried that it's something else because last time he guessed wrong also.  So, in light of this B&M, I have an early OL:

    Dear Santa,

Please bring me a new car - I promise I've been good this year!

I have a fan and I turn it on but it just makes the heater blow more.  It's so ridiculous and it's come on twice.  It bothers me that they don't come and look at it because I have to call about it whether it's to request air during the hotter times of the year or to beg them to turn off the heater when it's cold.  And, yes, it is cold outside, but I've let it get as hot as 94 (when I borrowed a thermometer) before calling and then it's still another ten minutes or so before it gets turned off. The guys at maintenance have already told some people that I need to take my pills since I must be menopausal, but, if they would just fix it, I wouldn't bother them.  Arghhhhh.

This is a running discussion with Bill and me.  I have school things that sometimes require me to be out later than either of us would like.  I can't eat a full meal on a regular basis after about 8 PM.  It's one of the things that got me in trouble with my pancreas in the first place.  My family always ate at 5:30 PM (no later) and I never had any stomach issues.  Plus, if we ate at 8 PM (or later), the dishes would never get done.  I don't like cooking a meal when there are lots of dirty dishes in the sink.  That's double mess.

    Sarah,

I agree with the others.  Sit down and have a talk.

I could be remembering wrong but it seems like in the past when I had an overage, they sent me a check (just like when I didn't have enough in escrow, they sent me a bill!)

I was so weak during my workout today--and I slept great so I don't know what is wrong.  It was step class and I felt like I had no energy or stamina at all.

I thought I made it this Friday.  Don't worry, I didn't get mine in the mail but I plan on doing it tomorrow so that I can mail them through the post office and not the expensive little pack and mail in Corinth ($15 two years ago and it wasn't heavy at all!!!!!).

ETA:  Ornaments must be mailed by 12/13.  You still have eight days!!!!!

  • Thanks Ladies!   I am going to call them today to see what their procedures are and when all of this will take place.  Luckily, we have a fantastic mortgage company... so I don't expect a problem.   I just wish that whoever figured our escrow amounts to begin with had done it correctly.
  • Woohoo! I'll be home on the 10th! That's perfect. :) Thanks Julie!

This is actually a different kind of trip than the one we took in February with the kids. This one is just Mack and I. :) We're flying out early tomorrow morning, we'll spend two days in San Diego, then Disneyland on Thursday, then fly home on Friday night. I'm having my pinup shoot done on Wednesday which is the real reason for the trip. That sounds like a completely self-absorbed and frivolous huge expenditure, I know... but we won a fairly heft settlement earlier this year and agreed to use it to treat ourselves to this trip. The photo shoot is a gift to both of us. :)

Tiffany, most mortgage companies do what is called an Escrow Analysis on Texas homeowner's  Escrow account in April.  This is because in Texas taxes aren't due until 1/31 and so they want to make sure they have had time to process any additional payments that might come through.  Once they do the analysis they will either send you a bill for the shortage or give you the option of taking the overage or applying it to principle. (Use to work in the Escrow dept at BOA mortgage)

If your taxes have already been paid and your insurance has been paid for the year you can call and have the analysis done before April.  You will still more than likely get another analysis in April even if you do one now because they are just systematically processed.  It is actually against the law for the mortgage companies to keep more than $50 over the required amount in your escrow after the analysis is done.

Have you switched insurance companies?  Have your taxes not been appraised correctly?  Most of the time there is only a small overage in escrow ($5-200) but if you changed insurance companies and your premiums went down then that could be why there is such a difference.

    Hope that makes sense.

Oh, it's no big secret. I just wasn't sure if I'd already talked about it. We had a bridal portrait stolen by a newspaper in Waco and used in a breast augmentation ad. WAY illegal. The bride sued separately and won her case in court, but we decided to settle out of court because I've worked for newspapers and I know there's not a lot of blood to squeeze from that stone. We were well compensated and the guy who actually stole the picture (for no apparent reason except that the bride had nice boobs in her wedding dress. SERIOUSLY.) was fired. All's well that ends well.
