Cooking/Baking this weekend?

With it now being the holiday season, I was baking ALL weekend. I had a major diaster with the molasses cookies so DH had to buy me some molasses cookie mix from the store (hangs head low) but the rest of the stuff came out great. The original recipe called for a ton of flour and all I could taste and smell was flour. The bag mix turned out much better.

I made: Banana Bread w/ choc. chips (OMG! It came out great!), choc. chip cookies, molasses cookies, and peanut butter cookies. DH's coworkers and E's teachers are gonna be in heaven today.

Anyone else bake/cook anything fun this weekend?

Not this weekend, but I'm starting a cookie baking marathon today. Started with buckeyes (though I didn't let the butter sit enough and it's too cold to mix, grr) and am thinking ginger crisps next.

You guys are making me want to bake! I made turkey noodle soup from the TG leftovers. It came out okay for the 1st time making soup from scratch. I needed to add more salt when it was cooking (I modified a recipe because of what I had on hand). I added ginger to the broth and that helped a lot.

That sounds yummy and I am not a big soup person. I also don't add salt when Im cooking unless the recipe calls for it. I bet the ginger tasted yummy!

It did call for it but I used chicken stock instead of the called for water so I didn't want it to be too salty. It was too bland so I added salt after it cooked.

I made a cherry pie with a crumble crust this weekend. Super yum! Pies are a new thing for me so I've been playing with (baking) those a bit lately. I think I am getting a good recipe for my crumble crust worked out, I loooove that!

I have been thinking of making ginger snaps, might have to try those.

If you like the taste of slightly strong ginger and can find some crystallized ginger, these are fantastic. Got some in the oven now.
