Sad question - what do you do when a pet passes away?
Our poor kitty is not doing well and I know his time is coming soon. We have a vet he sees very infrequently I guess we can call but are there other places that will cremate, take care of deceased pets. etc? We don't want anything particular.
Re: Sad question - what do you do when a pet passes away?
I'm so sorry that your cat isn't doing well!
When the time comes you can take him to your vet's office and they will send him out to be cremated. You can decide if you'd like the ashes back or they will dispose of them for you.
Thanks ladies. I have never had a pet pass away before. He is 18 years-old and in the past few weeks, he has just nose-dived. Poor little guy. We are just giving him lots and lots of love. Even the boys know, somehow. They run to him each morning, lean over and give him very gentle hugs.
Sorry to hear about your kitty. ?My kitty died in March from Renal Failure, so I know what it is like to see your pet not doing so well.
You have a couple of options. ?1: your vet can take care of it, but it can run you a couple of hundred dollars. They will euthanize, cremate and return the ashes to you. My vet wanted almost $300. ?2: call the local humane society, the one here in Pasadena charges $25 for euthanization and $60 for cremation and return of ashes, or just $10 for mass cremation and disposal (If you don't want the ashes).
Unfortunately my kitty didn't make it to the day I wanted to put him down.?
?
Here is a pic of my kitty "SImba" ?It is old, but I don't really have any pics of the cats by themselves after Jacob was born.?
Sorry you are going through this.?
Thanks so much. I am so sorry about your little kitty. It is so hard to lose an animal you love so much, huh?
My nephew was over last night and he came up to me and said very solemnly, "Chester is very old and sick. But he is still alive now. But soon he will die".
It just broke my heart.
A friend of mine had her kitty cremated and the ashes placed in a kitty statuette. She likes to keep it along with a framed photo somewhere safe on display in her home.
Big hugs to all of you! I'm sorry that Chester isn't well. He's lived a long and loved life thanks to all of you. XOXOXO
I grew-up with kitties (and my parents still have a bunch). When one passed away we used to bury it in the backyard (is that bad?) By the time we left that house (we lived there over 15+ years) there was a pet cemetery in the back corner of the yard.
I wonder if the new owners ever found it (what the heck were my parents thinking?)
Sorry that you are going through this
