Q's visit with Santa

Last year, Q LOVED Santa

image

This year, we've been reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and Q was very excited.  We went to the mall.  First, we stood behind the camera area.

Me: "There's Santa"

Quincy (excitedly): "Santa"

We get closer more excitement "Santa"

It's our turn, we step up

"NOOOOO!!!! All done, all done, ALL DONE"

two steps away smiling and laughing, "Santa"

Do you have any Santa stories to share?

Re: Q's visit with Santa

  • That was pretty much E this year. Although last year she refused to get near him. This year I got her to sit on his lap, SCREAMING. Actually, the picture is pretty funny. 2 seconds after getting off Santa's lap she was talking to him and showing him his picture on her coloring book he gave her.

  • LOL, kids will be kids I guess!  That first picture of him being all agreeable is so adorable!  The second one is funny, especially with the back story :)

He's already so much bigger in just a year; crazy!  And it looks like your local Santa is the same guy from the previous year.  I wonder if he curls his beard--it looks real but it can't actually be naturally curly like that right?  It looks so perfect.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Yes, the Oakridge Santa is the same guy as last year.  Even up close, the beard looks real (attached) and it's not pure white either which really makes me think it's real.  He must curl it (and we were there right after a break, so maybe he'd just freshened it up?)
  • He's so cute! That really is the perfect Santa. He looks very tired in the first photo. It must be exhausting having screaming kids in your face all day long.

When I was little my mom didn't want me to believe in Santa. So I never took any photos with Santa until I was about 9 and my bros were toddlers. This is it. It's a little weird when you're that old but I felt like I had missed out on something. Santa looks a little unsure of the situation!image

  • Isn't it a rite of passage to be terrified by Santa? Q is a cutie.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • Hannah, I think you look adorable in that picture!  Why did your mom not want you believing in Santa?

Aw thanks. Because she thought he was too commercial and connected to Coca-Cola (the American version of Santa began as a marketing campaign by them). She taught us about Sinter Claus, the traditional Dutch legend of the man who went around Christmas night and put goodies in children's wooden shoes that they left out at night. There is still a tradition of doing that in the Netherlands actually. She wanted us to focus on the real purpose for celebrating Christmas and not focus on the presents/Santa element as well as not believe in something she basically thought was scheme to make people materialistic.
