Virgin Diaries - anyone watch it?
I taped it over the weekend and finally watched it last night. Overall, I thought the show was pretty well-made in the way it documents three different stories of people and why they are virgins, or "reclaimed" virgins. I was pretty grossed out by the couple who got married. It seemed very apparent to me that the groom is just not into girls. Inexperience is one thing, but you could tell by the things he said and the look on his face that he's not made that way. His wife was so enthusiastic and eager, yet totally clueless about him at the same time. It would be awesome if they did some follow-up episodes on them. Anyone else watch it?
Re: Virgin Diaries - anyone watch it?
I can't believe I missed it! I'm bad with TV... I saw the preview for it though and I couldn't believe them kissing! I was seriously at my place, all by myself, laughing hysterically!!
I'll have to find it on again. It's TLC... they will replay it a million times.
I watched, and I think fuzzy did, too.
This could have been the most uncomfortable television program I've ever witnessed. The groom definitely wasn't into the bride, and obviously, the kissing was gross.
The three virgins were SO CLUELESS. WOW. Agree with PP about the marriage timeline thing. What the hell? The two who are "real" virgins also seemed to side-eye the "reclaimed virgin" the whole time. Not that I blame them.
That poor Carey. I just kept thinking, who agrees to be on a program all about virgins, and then talks about his love of cats and making fudge? So unfortunate. And then having his mom over to talk about how he's still a virgin at 35? And SHE basically suggested he hire a prostitute and "take care of it"? I'm speechless.
I almost feel guilty for even watching this show, because I feel sorry for these people.
Needless to say, it's set to DVR next week.
What is a "reclaimed" virgin? Either you are or you aren't. End of story. Now, if someone was raped or molested and THAT took their virginity away, I can see being a "reclaimed" virgin, but if you have willingly had sex in the past...um, no.
(PS, I had a friend like this in college - she screwed anything that would talk to her in high school, then became a born again virgin in college and now her adult life. So annoying. SOOOO ANNOYING)
Yeah, it's definitely a Christian thing. This girl had sex with all of her ex-boyfriends (or at least it sounded that way to me), but now is choosing to "reclaim her virginity" and "wait" for her future husband.
I don't understand it either, but it was funny to note the hostility from her actual-virgin roommates.
I worked with a girl my senior year of high school, she was in college, and was engaged. Her and her fiance were "reclaimed virgins" and weren't even kissing until their wedding day. The kicker is that they had already had sex together right when they began dating, but then decied they wanted to reclaim their virginity and then went completely chaste with it.
Yes, I watched it. Mostly with these faces: XD , 0_o,
Yup. That dude is so not into girls and he just doesn't know it. Of course their first time was bad. He's probably gay! And she's obviously a TERRIBLE kisser! Match made in heaven.
Love the roommates and how they obviously didn't agree with the "reclaimed virgin" thing. Whatevs.
I am still LOLing at this reclaimed virginity.
Just so you all know, I lost my virginity in Aruba three days after I got married. DH and I chose to abstain the four months leading up to our wedding.....I was totally a virgin when we got married, right?
I think a Virgin Diaries watch party is an awesome idea.
When I lived in Stillwater, I knew a lady who was a 40+ year old virgin. She was still waiting for THE ONE and steadfastly held on to her Christian beliefs. I was always rather surprised she had never gotten married considering she was college educated, not bad looking, physically fit and very active, and her belief system seems to tie in well with the whole bible belt thing Oklahoma's got going on. Why she couldn't find a nice church boy always amazed me. Anywho, when I started dating SO, she automatically assumed I had the same belief system as her... why she assumed that I have NO idea. I told her that I didn't want to get married or have kids, so she just assumed SO and I were just platonic friends because what other option would there be? Of course I wouldn't dare live in sin!!
