random - but what's the rule for a one lane bridge?

Re: driving/traffic question

  • My first thought was to alternate, one car from one side, one car from the other side (kind of like a 4 way stop). But I'm not sure of the official rule. And I'm assuming a pretty short bridge here, nothing that would take minutes to cross.

  • in our area...  (not sure if it's law or not)....  but the first person to the bridge goes over and any other cars behind them go then it switches to the other side.

that's what I always thought. ... but then this guy honked at me when I did that, so I thought maybe I was wrong.  I see people do both methods - and its really confusing.

I would think they would post signs near one lane bridges w/ the rules.

I have seen signs that said to honk before proceeding.
