Detox?

Today is day 1 of a five day detox.  I have to say, I am not hungry -- I have juices to drink at 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

But major caffeine withdrawal!  Ouch!

Has anyone ever done a detox?  I have to admit, I am struggling, but really want to do this...

I am open to suggestions if anyone has advice.... thanks!

Re: Detox?

  • Why are you doing that?
  • I think I would have slowly weaned myself off the caffeine before I started that. Caffeine headaches suck!

  • Caffeine withdrawl is a terrible, terrible thing. I did it when we were traveling through high altitudes because I was told it might decrease my chances of altitude-sickness. I am not sure whether I would have preferred altitude sickness to the 3-day migraine I had as a result of not drinking caffeine.

Happily, however, on the 4th day the migraine cleared up and the worst was over. Good luck.

  • I've heard good things about it and honestly, I am hoping this will help with TTC.  I am open to trying anything at the moment.  And this just shows me how badly I am hooked on coffee!!  I swear quitting smoking wasn't this painful!
  •  I typically detoxed once a year, though I use the term loosely.  I used to fast for 7 days, then I went to eating pure clean for 6 weeks and that worked much better (zero processed).  Foods have a lot of addictive additives and this really helps kick the cravings for them. My typically diet allows for one a slurge meal every week.

As far as stimulants (caffine) is concerned, I'm one of the rare people who believe a small amount, even when "detoxing" is OK for you.  There are a lot of books and articles I've read to support this, but know the norm people will say its bad.  I don't think its "cheating" to have 25-50 mg once or twice a day.
