Holiday Poll

Hey, I wandered over here and saw that there has been some interest in getting this board going, so here are a couple questions about the holidays:

1) What is the gift you're most excited about giving this season?

2) What is the gift you're most excited about (potentially) getting?

3) What are you most looking forward to about the holidays otherwise?

I will go first!

1) I haven't completely decided what I'm getting DH yet, but I think may be getting him a Walter Payton throwback jersey. If I do, then I'm probably going to be most excited about that.

2) I really, really want a Kindle Fire. I love to read but don't have an e-reader, and figure this will probably help encourage me to read more when I have down time instead of playing with my phone. (Although, who knows, maybe I will just end up playing around on my kindle.) But anyway, the Kindle Fire will also be really handy b/c I'll be able to read before I fall asleep without the need of a book light! (which will also hopefully encourage me to read more!)

3) DH and I are both from the same town, and our parents live about ten minutes apart. So I'm just really looking forward to being able to spend time with both of our families and get out of the city for awhile. The best thing also is spending an evening with DH watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate. (You might imagine I would say Santacon based on my sig, but we skipped this year.)

Re: Holiday Poll

  • 1) What is the gift you're most excited about giving this season?

I'm not working at the moment. I'm planning to make DH the different traditional German desserts he would have for Christmas if he was back in his homeland. He already treated himself to a new iPhone.

    2) What is the gift you're most excited about (potentially) getting?

Potentially I should be ordering a new laptop possibly. I took an extended break at school so it's suppose to be a Christmas and back to school gift.

    3) What are you most looking forward to about the holidays otherwise?

Spending Christmas with my family. I've been abroad for the last two Christmas holidays so I'm glad I can celebrate with everyone this year.

  • Great idea. I'll chime in.

    1) What is the gift you're most excited about giving this season?

Nothing to major. I'm giving H Blackhawks tickets as part of his gift.  We've never been to a game and have been saying for years we should go.  Also, my dad and I work in the same field and I heard of a cool book that's related, so I'm excited to give that to him.

    2) What is the gift you're most excited about (potentially) getting?

None.  I made a small list with minor items.  I love the surprise of not knowing what I'm going to get.

    3) What are you most looking forward to about the holidays otherwise?

I have to admit, I'm actually not looking forward to Christmas weekend.  Like OP, we're from the same hometown so we celebrate with both families and I just feel like the wknd is going to be exhausting and chaotic. Even though our parents our both still married, there are celebrations for each side of the family.

Christmas Eve lunch with my dad's side, Christmas Eve dinner and mass with FIL's side, Christmas morning at my parents, Christmas morning at ILs, drive 1hr to MIL's family celebration and come back to celebrate with my mom's side at night.  Essentially it's going to be 6 family celebrations in about 30 hrs. Whew, I'm tired just thinking of it.

Otherwise, H and I have hosted a holiday trolley/party for 3 years now.  I'm excited to play hostess for that next wknd!

  • This is my first post on the Nest :) I was semi-active on TK Chicago board. Excited to see some movement over here!  1) What is the gift you're most excited about giving this season?I'm giving H a kindle, which I'm pretty excited about. He likes to read on the bus during his commute, but is always reading multiple books at a time and it gets heavy for him to lug all of them around. . . this way he will be able to have as many as he wants! 2) What is the gift you're most excited about (potentially) getting?I didn't really ask for anything, so I'm not sure what I might be getting.  3) What are you most looking forward to about the holidays otherwise? We're visiting a lot of family (all out of the midwest) so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. And hopefully H and I will visit the Christkindlemarket downtown and reminisce about our engagement there last year (12/16/10 so coming up!)
