How much are cell phone taxes/fees?
We just found out DH's work will not longer provide phones so we need to find a new provider/plan. I remember that the fees and taxes add a substantial amount to the bill but I cant find any indication of what amount to expect. How much do you pay for these or what is your base plan price and what is the total you pay? TIA!!
Re: How much are cell phone taxes/fees?
We have Sprint - 2 4g phones on a shared plan.
Base rate (1500 shared minutes, unlimited text, data & mobile to mobile): 129.99
Premium data charge: $20.00 ($10 per phone)
Insurance: $16 ($8 per phone. Usually I don't get insurance, but we've both had to replace our phones - it's paid for itself by a lot)
Sprint Surcharge: $7.34
Gov't fees: $9.94
We have a 15% discount from a previous employer off the base rate only. Our total bill is $163.77.
FWIW, we've been really, really happy with Sprint overall. At one point between work and personal phones, we had a phone from each of the 4 major carriers, and we paid to get out of everyone except Sprint.
No more baby siggie pics. Boo.
I had Sprint before and loved it and I am 99% sure we're going to go back to them (we have AT&T now and I hate it). We're looking at getting the same plan you have - we also would have a 15% employer discount - so this really helps! Thanks!
Our bill is about $118 before taxes. And it's about $129 after taxes and fees.
We have the unlimited everything plan (minutes, text, and data) with TMobile for $49.99 * 2 lines. Then a 12% discount. Plus $15 * 2 because TMobile makes you pay for your phones out of pocket over the course of 20 months. That equals the $118.
