YES! And I've been meaning to come post an update, so thanks for prodding me.
As a reminder, here is the cake I wanted to try to make:

Though I don't really have cake skillz I felt I could likely pull this off. That is, until I tried to wrap my mind around making two thin layers of cake stand vertically....and how to attach the tail feathers w/o making the whole thing crumble.
I'm convinced the site that posted that picture hired a teenage intern who's never baked even a cookie to write the directions to assemble the cake. Just made no sense, skipped steps, etc.
I weighed the risk and decided on a Plan B: Turkey Cake laying down....
