I love all the good advice offered here so I come to you with this question...
I had a great interview with the hiring manager, CEO, and others that lasted several hours on Nov. 18th. I think I impressed everyone I met. Sent out thank you emails that afternoon and the hiring manager responded saying they would be in touch soon.
I sent an email follow up to him on Dec. 1st and he responded thanking me for checking in and that they had gotten busy and weren't moving as fast as they expected originally. But he was going to try and expedite the process so they can make a decision soon. I found out that they contacted 1 of my references that afternoon and she highly recommended me.
My references included my PhD thesis adviser, a co-worker from my current job whose title is higher than mine but we are pretty much equals, and someone who I worked with in grad school - we were both students in the same lab. I'm thinking they only contacted my adviser because she is the only that was a direct supervisor. I work in a lab of 10 people and my only boss is the CEO with no one in between us so I couldn't provide a supervisor from the current job.
So the big question, when can I follow up again? Tomorrow will be a week since they called my reference. Today I also asked another professor who was on my thesis committee and she was fine with me using her as a reference. Should I send an email with her info as well as follow up or just leave her out?
Obviously I really want this job and have a good feeling about it, just wish the process would move faster! Thanks for any advice.
Re: Advice, please...following up for a 2nd time?
