I missed the last few weeks of Top Chef. Can someone explain what Heather has against Beverly? It's almost unhealthy how much she hates her. Beverly is a little weak and I do not see her going far. Still Heather's comments about her seem over-the-top.

PgAL and PAL always welcome and appreciated!
she perceives her at weak (Beverly cried in front of the other contestants a couple of weeks back in the chili challenge) so I think she sees her as an easy target for her bitchiness.
so pissed Heather won this week. It wasn't even her cake recipe, right?

So true, but Beverly's dish was fine. Did it take a long time? Yes, but it was not the worse.
And why didn't anyone call out Lindsay on firing the steaks too early? It's just weird how Heather was complaining about Beverly yet I didn't hear her complain about Whitney's potatoes or the other main dish chefs, which was clearly a problem.
Which btw DH - a chef- was like Whiney's dish is NOT going to turn out well, she needed to start to cook that the night before. It was kind of funny.
I agree with this and I think since Heather won that they edited in a lot of her commentary. She makes me crazy with her attitude. I think it was actually Edward's recipe that she's used twice and he ended up in the bottom this time. She never mentioned that to the judges, but I'm sure he'd be under the bus in a heartbeat if she lost. I like how this week's winner can simply follow a recipe from another Chef. Almost anyone can follow a recipe. I'm not thrilled with Beverly's cooking, but she's a nice person and doesn't deserve the attitude. Heather seems to thrive on drama and be the only one this season that does.
I liked them showing the conversation between Edward and Beverly with her telling him she cancelled her reservation at his restaurant in Louisville, but peeked in the window at him and ducked when she saw him. It was sweet of him to tell her to come back and hang out with him and his wife for a good time. I've looked up his menus and these challenges are not meant for a Chef like him. His food looks incredible and he's not gone, but I hope they step up the ingredients to showcase talent like his and some of the others. Chicago only had the one pizza challenge when it was there.
I'd also like to know why no one harped on Nyesha (not sure if I'm spelling her name correctly). She spent two days making compound butter and sauce for the steaks. It seems like deveining 400 shrimp would take longer than that. And WTF did Heather want Bev to do? Everything got DONE. They only scrambled with the steaks and that was because of Lindsay's eff-up. No one called her on it, no one pointed fingers, not even Ty-Lor (seriously? that spelling irks me) when he ended up in the bottom for it.
I want Heather and Lindsay gone. Bev's not my favorite, but I didn't like them picking on her.
I don't like Heather.
But Beverly is a total weakling who cooks Asian food everyfucking time.
I don't like Heather or Lindsay, and think that Lindsay totally should have been called out on the steak thing. That said, at least those two were willing to make a decision...no one else was willing to risk making a decision...right or wrong.
No one this season seems to take the initiative and rise to the challenge. It really bothers me that they have all of these group challenges and the people don't get how to work as a team much less how to work on a team while still rising to the challenge and making their own dish shine.
I am super tired of all of the Texas challenges. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I had hoped it wouldn't all be stereotypical Texas.
They're both from Chicago so maybe they knew each other before the show? I'm just guessing and have nothing to base that on.
I can't stand Heather and she just seems like a horrible person. Living in Chicago, I usually like to make my rounds to try out the restaurants that the contestants are from. After seeing her on the show I have no desire to support someone like that.
ITA. Everything has to be Texas AND it has to be authentic Texas every time. None of the people that they have brought in to judge seem to have any kind of palate or it has to be authentic Texas. I feel like the show's Judges hands are getting tied this season because of who they have to cook for and as a result it will have a very weak Top Chef.
I think the contestants are unwilling to take the lead because they are being given no creative license. What are restaurant wars going to be like if this season keeps going in this direction? Chicago got one pizza challenge and they did not force the Chefs to make it Chicago style to win.
I also agree that Beverly is a "one trick pony," but I think there's still worse around than her to get rid of since at least they can eat what she cooks. I would like to see her venture out of her comfort zone at least once before she goes because I really want to know if she can do anything else. I had to look up Nyesha because she's made no impact on me one way or another. I'm not a fan of Heather, but would like to see Lindsay do a little more and take some ownership. All the good food seems to happen in the Quick Fire this season.
Totally agree!!
This season sucks.
Just like I thought a season in Texas would.
I called this. On this board, actually, and some Nesties were like "ooooh of course you'll complain about what makes Texas unique" and blah blah blah, but I was right. They've just stuck to the stereotype and it's awfully boring. And embarrassing.
I was really hoping (and still am) that they'd go into Austin and show all of the innovative culinary skills there.
