Our mailman is great. He knows our dogs wake up the baby if he puts mail in the slot, so if he hears them, he knocks instead. And he's just so nice.
I want to give him a little treat, but I know they are not allowed to accept cash or gift cards. Would some baked goods and a water bottle that attaches to his belt be weird? Any ideas?
Re: mailman gifts
My father is a letter carrier, and although they are technically not supposed to accept cash/giftcards I have never known a mailman that returns or refuses the gifts.
They get quite a few baked goods - usually more than can be eaten while it is fresh. I get our mail lady a bag of Ghiradelli peppermint bark and tape a card with cash to it.
I have a community box too. For mailmen or other individuals, how do you give the actual gift? Leave it on the porch? What about for the garbage men? I'd like to give our garbage men something because they are awesome but don't want to leave it on top of the trash... And I owe the UPS guy something way before I'd owe the mailman because I do a lot of online shopping. But we have so many solicitors I hate to leave anything on the door.

last year for our trash guys I gave them 3 water bottles each with a gift card inside. I did put it on top of the lid of the garbage can and felt ok since nothing was edible.
I was thinking the same thing about the UPS guy, he's here pretty much daily. I might leave something on the porch saying "UPS guy," but we don't have any solicitors. I think it might still be ok if it's clearly marked though.
