Christmas open house menu help
DH and I are having a Christmas open house in about a week and I am trying to work on a menu....it's from 1-4, so appetizers.
So far I have: chicken quesadillas, mediterranean tray (olives, hummus, pita or pita chips), veggies and dip
I figure I need at least 2 more things....
I'm doing a brownie bar for dessert (with some seasonal toppings as options) and DH is taking care of drinks.

Re: Christmas open house menu help
I'm trying to figure out the logistics of making or keeping quesadillas for 3 hrs.
Anyway I have some recipes that I'll type out if you are interested- cherry tomatoes stuffed with bacon and mayo/onion mixture(it's like a bite sized blt), ginger chicken bacon wraps, a few varieties of apps starting with refirgerated biscuits and then topped with bacon/crab/shrimp.
eh, I don't like that you go mexican, mediterranean, general, then stop there! And the quesadillas don't sound easy to prepare and keep warm. You could do chicken salad sandwiches, or use a crockpot to do pulled chicken barbeque. Or meatballs, or mini hot dogs...but again try not to be all over the place with the menu
Cheese platter and fruit are very good to have

Yeah, it seems really random and not seasonal at all.
Scroll down and read my advice to MrsRedVelvet. You want to hit the food groups and plan apps that make up a balanced meal.
Med tray, good; veggies & dip, good. Now you need some meat and starches - 2 choices of crostini would fit the bill nicely, plus you can't go wrong with cheese and crackers. Add a tray of holiday cookies (deli bought or homemade) and you're set. Have fun
Oh, don't forget a festive beverage like a punch or cocoa!

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I guess I thought if I made the quesadilla on spinach tortillas they would be green and then have a pepper strip sticking out to look like a tree....I was planning on using a warming tray and sternos to keep them warm.....maybe I should just go back to square one......
Thanks TarHeels....I did look at your previous post before (I actually copied and pasted your suggestion into the word document I am using to plan the food).
