Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! Most days I love my job because I get to teach some amazing children, but there are those days when you really question why you work 6-6 for pennies and get slapped in the face. I DD the details, but thanks for letting me vent.
There are some AMAZING schools out there and part of the reason I am frustrated is because I have seen the magic that goes on in those places and how much children thrive in an environment that fits who they are. I think if you know your child, find the right fit for them, and believe in the good teachers you come across you will be quite happy as a parent.
Re: Dear Universe,
Me too, especially as the mom of a kid who has a lot of quirks and who, despite the fact that he is crazy smart and so academically ahead, marches to the beat of his own drum and won't do well in a class where every kid is expected to do everything exactly the same way, the traditional way, no questions asked, no exceptions. Terrifies me to think that with the wrong teacher/school he could end up being labeled a problem kid just because he requires a little outside of the box thinking.
God bless those of you who do it despite the lack of respect for your efforts and dedication that just seems to flow from every direction these days.
Dearest Universe-
Tyrna is a fantastic teacher and I know there are many schools she would love and thrive at. Please have one of those plop into her lap before next school year. There are tons of kiddos who would thrive in her class and she should be rewarded for it.
And please smack those wackos at her school to wake up and get with it!
