Our 1st Christmas on a $20 Budget

Hi Ladies -

I'm fairly new to the nest but I need some help!!!! My husband & I have set a $20 gift budget this year. I am at my wits end to come up with something for him for $20. I have asked him numerous times what he wants & he always replies "I don't need anything." To me, Christmas (as far as gifts go) is a time to get what you want, not neccessarily what you need....that's the fun of it. :)

Any ideas on what I could get him for $20? TIA :)

Anniversary

  • Maybe you could get him a "luxury" version of something he always uses such as Coffee, Razors, or Aftershave.

If he is into Sports you could get him something with his favorite team logo on it.

  • How about a photobook from Shutterfly?  They also have other really cute photo gifts (calendars, mugs, etc).  You could also get him an "Our First Christmas" ornament.  Michael's has a cute one!

  • What about a fun night in basket with some good beer (or whatever he drinks), candy/treats and a DVD of a good movie?

  • maybe a DIY gift basket with his favorite things, like favorite snacks, drinks, maybe alcoholic, or even coffee if he likes that. make it look all crafty and cute and it will look like it cost way more than 20 bucks. even a gift card to a place he likes, you can throw in for a few bucks, enough for a free coffee or breakfast somewhere.

  • Is there a sport he likes to play? Basketball, Golf balls, tennis balls?

Does he like music? Can you buy $20 in iTunes credits and make him an awesome CD?

  • Last year DH and I were on a super tight budget so for each other we decided to exchange pajamas on x-mas eve. It was actually a lot of fun, then we made hot chocolate and popcorn and sat around in our new jammies watching christmas movies.

It turned out to be really memorable, and a new tradition for us :)

This is a really cute idea.  PJ's can definitely be done for $20.  You can even each bring a "surprise" treat as part of the gift.  Just like a candy or drink he'd like.

  • Here are the gifts I got for DH that are $20 or under:

    cd

dvd (I actually got both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for $10 on Black Friday)

wallet (from the Kenneth Cole outlet)

Whiskey Stones (great if he drinks)

    Scotch glass (ditto)

  • It may sound cheesy - but what about making him a "coupon" book of special things.  A coupon for a back rub; his favorite meal; a kiss; date night; etc.  You can make it as romantic or practical as you want.  All you need is construction paper and some crayons!

  • Maybe an itunes gift card and favorite candy.
  • I also really like the pj idea and sometimes they have really cute ones at walmart or target for around $5. Then you can plan a cozy night watching his fav movies.

My hubby also set bugets for christmas gifts this year and I was able to find some stuff for him on Groupon. You could check and see if they have anything good in your area.

If he is into video games they have used games at GameStop or Hastings.
