Help with Pillow

Hi everyone,

I was thinking of making a pillow with our last name spelled out in periodic table elements. (Yes, we're nerdy.) I'd be hand stitching it as I don't have a sewing machine. Any suggestions for making the periodic table element squares? Could I screen print them? Would iron-on look good?

I'm pretty crafty, I just don't sew too much. (Yet!)

Any tips / advice / suggestions would be welcome!

I want it to look kinda like this:

I would buy one from the seller, but they don't do custom. :(

Re: Help with Pillow

  • Screen printing or iron on would both look good Smile

I found these patches for you.  Not sure what size they are, but if they have all of the elements you need, that might work.

If you don't sew, I would just buy a pillow cover and pillow insert to make that part easier.  Then, if you get the patches, you could only have to sew or iron those on the cover.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

  • The image that you posted looks like a good candidate for screen printing, especially if you have a die cut machine (Silhouette or Cricut) to cut out the template.

Cute idea! I should make something like that for my friend who is a chemical engineer.

  • Thanks, ladies! I think those tiles will work great!
