*Champ*

It's mostly a hobby.  I do teach a few classes, but I don't get paid to perform, and it's just a part-time gig.  It's a lot of fun!

Re: *Champ*

  • Ok...I was just curious.  I also remembered you reading how you met your BF thru a dance class.  Maybe I should learn to dance.  Ha!
  • I really enjoy it, and in social (ballroom) dancing, the women often outnumber men, so you might be onto something there.  Plus, a man who can dance is always in demand!  It's a lot tougher on men, though...their part is much more difficult (leading) than the woman's (following), so don't get discouraged and don't be too hard on yourself if you don't get it right away!
  • Also, swing dancing is really fun, and not quite so rigid and formal as traditional ballroom dancing, so that might be something to look into.  West Coast Swing is really popular in my town, but it depends on your area--East Coast is more popular in other places, or even shag, jive, etc.
  • I am in my late 20's.  Do you see women in my age group that take those classes?
  • We get everyone from teens to people in their 60s at our studio.  It'll depend a lot on where you go--each studio or group has its own personality.  In my town, the swing dance crowd is a little older (most are in their 40s, but there is a range), but the salsa crowd is more 20s-30s.  It varies based on your town.
