I am visiting from the far far away land of BOTB on The Bump. I hope I am in the right place.
We have very close friends in the San Fran area. I am looking for something amazing to give her. I am looking for a gift card to a hidden treasure of the area. A nice restaurant, activity, or cool store that are not known very well would be great. She is into painting, screen printing, running, puzzles, and a slew of other things. She has a degree in English and loves to read. She is a health nut and loves to do anything with exercising. My budget is $100 give or take. If it is super nice or I think she will enjoy it I could do $150.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Re: Hi Ladies.
Why does it have to be an obscure place? For example, I suspect there are very few restaurants in the Bay Area that are good and unknown since it's such a foodie mecca and just because others know about it doesn't make it less good.
I'm eager to finally get to Gary Danko for a meal, though $150 probably won't cover dinner for two there. I'm kind of blanking on suggestions for her other interests but maybe the other ladies here can help.
I think she means things that she would be unaware of because she doesn't live in the area and I'm thinking she's outside CA. Maybe she isn't a foodie herself so she wouldn't know famous foodie places. I'm not a foodie-because I can't afford to be-so I'll recommend the one fancy place I know and like. It's in Union Square and it's called La Scala. I don't see a link on their website to gift certificates so you might have to call if you were to choose them. http://www.scalasbistro.com/ I have also heard people rave about having high tea in SF in a few places. I've always wanted to do that sometime. Someone can give you recs. The other thing I think of is getting a gift certificate to the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park. I was given that as a gift and I really enjoyed it. http://www.conservatoryofflowers.org/ GL and HTH!

You are right. I don't know the area at all. I am in Atlanta. She is new to CA, so I am looking for something she might not be aware of. Thanks for the tips.
