How has your weekend been?

Been a bit of a bummer here... long track meet day yesterday and my kids didn't do so well (first meet of the year, so I guess it's okay).  Then went to watch the high school football team play in the state championship and they lost a total heartbreaker 28-26 on a missed 2 pt conversion.  I coach a lot of those kids and really wanted to see them win.

Skipped church this morning to grade final papers and ended up sleeping/napping after three consecutive early mornings.  Oh well-will grade tomorrow.

Did have a nice Christmas tea to attend this afternoon!

Re: How has your weekend been?

  • It's been pretty good. We got our tree on Friday which I decorated yesterday, I pretty much finished my Christmas shopping, and I was finally feeling better after being sick all week. Then today, my sore throat came back with a vengeance. I have my voice back, but my throat hurts worse today than it did at any point last week. I'm thinking I have to call out of work tomorrow, so I already emailed my lesson plans to my coworkers. I'll make the final call-out decision in the morning, but at least I won't have to get out of bed to send emails after calling out.

  • We have had an awesome weekend! Yesterday was Kevin's Dad's side family Christmas. It was a lot of fun, food, and games. My stomach hurt so bad from laughing so hard.

Today has been super lazy. We have been watching TV, football game and now started Psych on Netflix.

I did get some bad news today that my parents had to put our family dog of 17 years down last night Crying. I cried for a while about that. My mom came home from work and his breathing was off. He ended up with cardiomyopathy and heart failure. Kind of strange, my mom and I are both cardiac nurses and treat this in humans all the time. They could have treated him overnight and see how he did but the vet wasn't very promising so my parents put him down Sad

Aww, I'm sorry you're still feeling bad!  That sucks.

My weekend, obviously, has been pretty great.  My furniture painting is complete and I'm putting our room back together.  I'm also doing laundry and finishing up getting some ebay sales prepared to ship.

We had dinner with my family today and it was really, really hard not to bust out with the news.  And of course I've got myself all worked up now and nervous so I'm going over our budget with a fine tooth comb trying to make some cuts.  I panic too much, I know, I think it makes me feel in control in a situation I now have no control over.

  • Nice and relaxing!  I've caught up on sleep, did lots of cross stitching and saw some friends for a short time.   I didn't go to church and I wanted to because I was off this weekend.

Jess, I'm sorry about your family dog Sad

  • Eh, kind of blah.  Weekend started out with two hours in the Dentist chair starting at 8AM yesterday followed by a 24 hr visit by MIL and ended this AM with discovering a leak from our bathroom through the ceiling into our office.  My MIL was still here and was following me around as I was trying to figure out what it was, get a bowl, clean up, etc and she was NON-STOP offering all sorts of unsolicited opinions and thoughts on it that I full snapped at her, she shut up and left shortly thereafter.

Damn it felt good - but then I felt bad afterwards.

  • This weekend has been pretty crazy. Yesterday, for my birthday, Paul and I went bungee jumping. Scariest moment of my whole life. I'm glad I did it, it was very cool, but I have no need to ever do it again. Video here (hopefully this link works): http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=862481857484.

To get to the jump site, we had to hike 5 miles each way on a pretty intense trail - we crossed a river at least 10 times, scrambled up and over huge rocks, it was crazy. Today I am sore.

That took most of the day (we left the house at 5:45 am and got back at 5:45pm), but last night we had some friends over to hang out and play games, which was really fun and relaxing.

Today, we're hanging out with SIL and her bf, and the boys are brewing another 2 batches of beer.

  • It was fine.  I got my hair cut on Friday and it felt so good to finally get a good hair cut!  Went to a friends house Friday night for a Christmas party and drank too much - which made Saturday morning a little rough.

Saturday I finished up a lot of Christmas shopping, did some chores around the house, and made some cards.  It felt good to start crafting again since I haven't done it for almost a year.  Saturday night was the company Christmas party...where we had to PAY for water, but sweet tea and coffee were free.  WTF?  Water cost the same price as a beer.

Today has been laid back.  I had to go into work for a few hours but otherwise it was nice.  I am going out of town tomorrow for the week so I am just kicking back tonight. :)

  • It was fine until this afternoon, when DH and I got into an argument about splitting time with our families for the holidays. His mom freaked out and cried when he told her that we were changing things up this year, which pissed me off, which pissed him off, and... well, we're still pissy with each other.

It's new for us to argue about our families, so... this sucks.

  • I had a pretty good weekend overall. Yesterday I was busy trying to get stuff done around the house, while DH sat on his butt and cried sick (this is the 3rd weekend in a row hence the hint of frustrated sarcasm Wink). Last night was our Sunday School Christmas party which was a lot of fun. Then today DH had to work, and I went to heard the special Christmas music presentation at the ILs church where my MIL sings. Great service, so that was good. Back home to more cleaning etc. Just made some enchiladas from a pinterest post that came out great - so that was a bonus. We'll have a bunch to freeze for later which is awesome too!

  • Terrible. :(

Nolan was very whiny last night, ended up with a fever, didn't sleep at all and "woke up" (aka quit tossing and turning in our bed) with another ruptured ear drum. We took him to Urgent Care and started another round of antibiotics and today has just been miserable.

I thought babies who didn't go to daycare, were breastfed, took their vitamins, etc. weren't supposed to get sick so much! BLAH!!

I think the holidays bring it out in every couple. Hope you guys get things figured out soon!

And, Raz, sorry to hear about your pup :(

  • The weekend was okay. Didn't have the baby, so much for that full moon theory for me anyway.

Saturday my mother and I took Alex and we went to the mall to do some window shopping while H went out with a group to a shooting range. I was supposed to hang out with my cousin and her kids, but she bailed, per her usual. Once H finished with the shooting thing, we dropped the kid off with H and went back out. My mother finished almost all of her shoping, and I got ideas. Then a nice relaxing dinner out. Lots of walking, spicy foods, full moon, and still, nothing. Looks like I have another very comfortable baby.

Sunday I went grocery shopping then we all went to church. After, a group of the ILs stopped by for lunch, football and visiting. I made my pumpkin bread, we took Alex to the park and taught SIL about cloth diapers for her son due in a few months.

All in all, a pretty basic weekend.

  • Great Weekend!

Saturday - stroller strides. Evie and I stopped by petco to help santa paws shop for the animals. She took a long nap while we watched glee. DH tried to put some more lights up but a chatty neighbor came over and yeah lost motivation... We had fun playing out back. And DH put some lights on the fence in the back to make it all festive

Sunday - Hung out at home. Evie went down for an early nap while we cleaned. She woke up. Went to a fav chinese restaurant for lunch and she had her first chinese (egg roll, hot and sour soup, chicken lo mein, dim sum buns, dim sum sticky rice) and she loved it! Went to an indoor playground (got a winter membership!) and exausted Evie and she took another 2 hour nap once we got home! It is a big jungle gym with slides, running areas, bouncing balls. They have an area for little kids as well as big kids. I had to climb with Evie to the big kid slide...
