One of my cousins in Spain just had a baby last week and I wanted to send her a little gift before I move. When DD was born, she sent her some Tous jewelry, but since my cousin had a boy, I am going to hold off on the jewelry.
I can't send anything super big since I have to ship it, but I was wondering if there's anything you can think of as useful or fun that's particularly hard to find in Europe, but would be very welcome to a new mom in Spain. I could also go the traditional route of what I usually get friends with new babies, but figured I'd see if anyone has thoughts, especially since I remember that someone here (LadyMadrid?) had a baby recently.
Re: @- favorite baby stuff from the US?
This is going to sound weird, but receiving blankets. They seriously have nothing even similar.
Or, something I have loved and can't find here, swaddlemes and Halo Sleep Sack Swaddles. Also, the gowns that a lot of people use as newborns (although I'm not such a fan of these as i thought I'd be).
I don't think you can buy Sophie the Giraffe in Spain, but it is available in France as some French family member of DH's sent us one. I know that is a fairly popular gift to give in the US.
Hmmm...what else...I can't think of other things that are hard to get here at the moment, but if I come up with more I'll let you know! Happy shopping and congrats to your cousin! Whereabouts in Spain is she?
Thanks! I am going to bring my cousin a Sophie in person this spring once I'm living in France. I did consider it, though! Thanks for your other suggestions.
This particular cousin is in Leon. I also have family in Madrid (Alcorcon & Alpedrete, to be precise) and another cousin in Barcelona. DH is already complaining that with all the family visits, we'll end up spending more time in Spain next year than in France!
