Christmas bonus etiquette?

If you get a cash Christmas bonus from your company, do you write a thank-you card to the boss/CEO/whomever decides these things?  This is my first year in this position and I'm not sure what's appropriate!  TIA!

Re: Christmas bonus etiquette?

  • I never have. When I worked for smaller companies my boss usually told me when he gave me my paycheck and I would say thank you. I'm at a bigger company now and my supervisor told me what my bonus was and I said thank you but I don't plan to personally write the owner.
  • It couldn't hurt.  It is still a nice thing to do and I'm sure they don't get a lot of thank yous.
  • I do - but I work semi-close with the President/CEO (bi-weekly meetings).  I don't think sending one is a bad idea at all, and like pp said, they would probably really appreciate it!
