Help, please

I need a place to meet 5 other people that's near E Beltline and Knapp.

Light inexpensive dinner and area apart from main dining place (it's a meeting) would be helpful.  The meeting would be from 5 ish - 7:30 or so.

I live near there, but I want to be sure I've thought of all of my options.

Re: Help, please

  • I've been thinking about this and I can't think of any venues in that area that meet your criteria.  I can think of meeting rooms, but they don't offer dinner.  And I can think of restaurants, but not that offer small private rooms.
  • I would try to help, but I'm not familar with the area.

But you've had at least 16 peaks in this post so I wanted to type something so you knew at least 1 of the peakers would try to be helpful if she could.  Stick out tongue

  • HA!  Thanks, Mol.

Kasa, I KNOW!  Isn't that crazy?  Freaking open floor plans. ;)

We might just have to take a spot at Biggby or something.

  • Wendys.  Big Smile

I don't think it would be fair to take up a table for that long at a resturant, esp during the holiday season when places are busy.  I was surprised when I went out with a group on a Wed evening one time and left On the Boarder at 7:45, there was a line of people waiting for a table. It explained why our server basically cleared our entire table while we were talking.  She was giving us a hint that we missed. I felt bad that we took up our table for that long.

Does Meijer on Knapp still have a small seating area? (I'm actually being serious.)

  • Yeah, you're right, GVSU.  I was thinking a sandwhichy place where most people don't stay in the evening.  Not a usual sit-down place.

Meijer does have a sit down place.  I don't think it's quiet enough there, though.

  • Is it a meeting for "the dreaded project" - maybe a loud place wouldn't be so bad to meet. Smile  That way if you all get in a throw down match, it wouldn't be a big deal.
  • It's not exactly in your preferred area, but maybe consider Urban Mill coffee shop on Michigan.  I've had a few committee meetings there and it works out great.  It's much quieter than your typical Biggby/Starbucks.

Call and confirm how late they're open though.  I've found their closing times tend to vary...

  • We're just going to meet at Noodles.  I'm hoping that an earlier time will mean we're not being jerks for staying long, and if they are busy, we can just go to Biggby after we're done eating, I guess.

It's with "my girls" and some of them aren't allowed to go to the city.  hee hee.

I should be done by 8.

  • I have an email in to a friend of mine. She took a coupon from my keycard book for a little place near your house, maybe on Knapp. I hadn't heard of it before, but I think it was named after a lady.

Edit- the place was named Susies, but it went out of business.

  • Isn't that near the Celebration Cinema kinda?  I thought there was a Panera in there somewhere, maybe west-ish (I'm not very good with my directions that far from the lake Stick out tongue) of the theater.
