Monday Moans

Anyone got em?

My moan is that I have a yucky cold this week, and I am hoping and praying it goes away for my Christmas party on Friday.  I look forward to it every year and would hate to be sick for it.

I'm also a little worried my party is going to be a flop this year.  Two of my friends just had babies, and a few have different work schedules that won't let them come or are out of town.  There are 8 people who have rsvp'd but it might be kind of tame.  Oh well...I'll just be glad to have those who do come!

Re: Monday Moans

  • DH woke up with the stomach flu at about 1am. I noticed he wasn't in bed at about 3am and after checking on him in the guest room I couldn't go back to sleep. It's been a long day and now I'm starting to feel queasy and achy. Boo!

  • JNicole - hope you feel better! It's no fun to be sick and have to host a party :(

My ILs are being a PITA. They don't respect our choices about how we do certain things with DD and they are not quiet about it. I heard no less than 10 comments A DAY from my MIL and her mother (DH's grandma) the other weekends ago about how I am doing things "wrong"; burping DD wrong, holding her "too much" (she has AR/GERD and has to sit up 30 minutes after each feeding), not letting her CIO (she's 2 months!! When she crys, she needs something)....I could go on. MIL hasn't been a parent or around babies in over 25 years, so she doesn't know sh*t and I am so close to telling her to STFU. She just makes me so mad, and usually makes these comments when DH isn't in earshot b/c she knows he'd tell her to lay off and leave us to do the parenting.

    Thanks for the well wishes!

About your in-laws, I just wanted to say kudos for NOT telling her to STFU.  I probably would have.  I have made it clear to my DH that if MIL tries to tell me how to raise my children when we have them, I will not be quiet about it.   I don't know how DH and BIL turned out so good, but I think it has a lot to do with their dad, not her.  Good luck with everything!

Thanks, it's hard, especially since we see them ALL THE TIME now (even though they live 2 hours away and have only been to visit 1 in 3.5 years before DD was born). MIL is very much an "everything is about me" person. While we were away with them, she would come into our room and take DD out of my lap so I could get ready so we could leave when she wanted us to - she couldn't just leave and wait for us to catch up to her. All I have to say is that it's going to be a long 10 days in FL this July....

  • I have a chalazion (similar to a sty) in my left eye and now my right eye is sore as well.  I took 2 hours off and went to the eye doctor and he said to put warm compresses on it.  It hurts and itches.  Ugh.   Plus I had a rough day overall.  Hang in there girls!  The holiday season is stressful!!
