Santa Rosa

Hi Nesties! Planning on visiting friends in Santa Rosa mid January for about 5 days... any recommendations on things to do/places to eat/what to avoid? We are vegetarians so no steakhouses or seafood places please. Thanks in advance?

Re: Santa Rosa

  • I just went to a good very vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Cotati (very close to Santa Rosa)--it was called The Redwood Cafe.  It was casual (~$10/entree)--but there was live music and lots of vegetarian options.

I also love Cafe Gratitude in Healdsburg (20 min from Santa Rosa)...I'm not sure if they are still open, though--I think I read an article saying that the owners were closing all their restaurants :(  But if it's open, they also have vegan food.... and you can go wine tasting in Healdsburg :)

A little further down 101 is Sol Food in San Rafael--again, pretty casual, but delicious and vegetarian friendly....It is Puerto Rican food...

If you end up going into the City (San Francisco)--I love Greens--an upscale vegetarian restaurant.  On the cheaper side, I love Ananda Fuara in the Tenderloin (terrible neighborhood, delicious vegetarian/vegan food).  Golden Era is a decent vegan Vietnamese restaurant in that same area--but given the choice between the two I'd do Ananda... I've also been dying to try Gracias Madre in the Mission--I think it's vegetarian (maybe vegan?) Mexican food...

There is TONS of vegetarian food in the Bay Area--have fun!
