Does anyone know of a good place to go get a CHL, also about how much is the class? DH has that on his wishlist, and I'm thinking about giving him cash for the class.
Thanks.
Re: CHL
Right now there is a Living Social deal to take the class for $65, which they have listed as 50% off.
In addition to the class, it is $140 to register with the state.
Spectre Firearms on 249 and Spring Cypress has classes. I got mine there, my husband used to work there. It included the photos and the finger prints and was about $150 I think.
After you take the class you have 6 months to file the paperwork. That comes in handy if you need to wait for $ reasons. Also start the paperwork process online, it makes that part go much faster and you can track it that way too.

I shoot regularly at Shooter's Station in Conroe and really like their instructors. I took a private CHL course taught by a retired DPS officer, but if I hadn't had that opportunity I would have gone there.
My brother and my dad (both law enforcement) qualify periodically at Top Gun in Houston and recommend it.
If I'm remembering correctly, between the fees I paid to the state and the cost of the class it was about $300. I already had my own gun.
You actually have a year to file your paperwork.
