GI Bill

I just finished registering for classes starting in Jan using my Post 911 GI Bill. I signed up for a full course load. Eek! I haven't been to "school" in 8 years and I am NERVOUS! I have never taken an online course before either. Thank goodness MH will be back from deployment shortly and can help me with wrangling DD for a few hours a day :) I just had to share, I'm excited!

Re: GI Bill

  • Congratulations on your first step! I know so many people that have not taken advantage of the GI Bill, and I just want to shake them.  Between that and TA while I was AD, I am so grateful.  Good luck!

  • When I was in college, the older students, and especially the veteran students were very often the best, most disciplined students (shocker, lol). A lot of my classmates had the same fear you did, as did my H when he started using his TA last year, and they all performed fantastically, as I'm sure you will!
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • Good luck! I'm just about to finish my first semester of grad school using my GI Bill. last final exam in 90 minutes! I had been out of college for over 10 years when I finally decided it was stupid to pass up a free masters degree. It definitely took a few weeks to get back into student mode, but I'm loving it!
  • That's so great!  I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!  And like Stan said, i've also found that the "older" students were usually the best and most engaged students I saw in class.  Good luck and have fun!
  • Thanks for the encouragement everyone :) Going back to school was one of the stipulations MH gave me when we agreed on my separation from AD LOL Good thing too.
  • When I first went back last year, I was terrified. I'm a few classes away from done with my AAS and I'm glad I went back.
