Tomorrow I have a care conference call on my dad. We all have a lot of concerns, but the biggest one is what's going to happen with him when he's discharged from the rehab facility.
My brother can't take him because the bedrooms are all upstairs, and he travels frequently for work and can't be around to help him or take him to appointments consistently.
My aunt can't take him because she lives in a 1 bedroom condo. Ideally, her place would be best because it's one level, but there's not enough room.
We have no idea what's going on with him and my stepmom. She will be on the call tomorrow, but even if he did go home to their house, she works full time and it's the same as my brother's - bedrooms are on the upper level or the basement level. Only a half bath on the main level.
I suggested that maybe he could come out here, but again - the logistics of floor plans, working full time, and mix in the fact that all his friends and his doctors are in MN and that rules us out.
I have no idea what our options are. We could possibly talk my aunt into taking him and putting a hospital bed in her living room, but she is 77 years old and in no condition to be helping him physically if he needs help up, or in the bathroom etc.
And, he has no money to go someplace on his own.
Re: I hate feeling so helpless
No. He has Medicare and no secondary. He's also having a lot of anxiety about paying the 20%.
