initial journal for girls?

My 7 year old neices want journals with their names or initials on them. They have cute girlie ones at Justice for $25 but I was thinking I could get them a simple one for a lot cheaper and then maybe embellish the front. They like really sparkly and girlie. Anyone have any cute ideas of how I could embellish it and where I could get a journal with blank or lined pages? Thanks!

Re: initial journal for girls?

  • Here's a tutorial for making a fabric cover for a journal. A simple composition notebook would work, they're $2-4.

I would totally go this route too. I didn't look at the tutorial, but I bet you could hand applique their initial on the front with some sparkly embroidery floss to make it more "them".

  • If you don't want to do fabric and instead want to specifically embellish, I'd go to Michaels- they have initial journals and then use crystals, decoupage paper, etc. around the already printed initial.
