Just got a call. The neurologist came by. He says it's some sort of an epilepsy attack. He had suddenly fallen down last week as well (which we all contributed to him tripping over the 1001 little rugs MIL has all over the house) but that probably was one too.
They're now scheduling him for tons and tons of tests and scans to figure out the specifics and a treatment plan, but the real urgency seems to be gone.
He can probably even go home pretty soon, which he's super happy about, and MIL is really nervous about. She's terrified that he'll fall again and that she can't help him.
We're trying to figure out how much of her fear is really a problem and we'll go from there. See if we need to go out there to support her with caring for him, or that she'll manage and we save the money/time for when/if she actually does need the support.
Thanks everyone for those awesome IN vibes!

Re: Update on FIL
I just posted in your other thread.
Glad they know what it was and that he can begin treatment soon.
You should take a nap, sounds like you had a rough night.

Thanks everyone.
FH spoke to FIL a couple of times today. He got to go home late morning and has been bored ever since. He claims it was just the stress from traveling, and we're very happy that he's not worried and stressing himself out. I just heard that he actually had an attack during the flight as well, which he denies, and he claims he was just sleeping. It leads me to believe this has been going on for quite some time, because he has been 'falling asleep' during the day a LOT more in the last year.
FH called FIL's Dutch insurance and he's very well insured so all the hospital expenses including further testing and treatment (outpatient) is covered. IT's all arranged through Eurocross, which apparently is an amazing agency. They have Dutch and Italian speaking people on staff and are extremely helpful calling doctors, hospitals and my ILs to arrange stuff.
MIL just called and let us know that she has a referral note to the diagnostic center with a green sticker for FIL, which means he should be able to get his scans and tests done this or next week.
All in all things seem to be going okay for now. When we have definite answers, I'll definitely report back!
