Work help please? (UK nesties)

I need to find 2 British female health care workers to go on a 3 month poorly paid internship at a retirement resort on a tropical island in China, all expenses paid, and they need to fly out by the end of January.

I've put it up on gumtree and jobcentre plus but I'm trying to think of other places to target the type of people that would be interested in something so quick and holiday like - students would be perfect, obviously, but targeting uni's would be dumb because the student's would be taking class and not eligible for 3 months away.

I'm seriously hitting a dead end here, and it's a gateway to a massive project for us that was given to a colleague of mine a month ago and they never actioned it.

Any ideas?

  • I think most of these jobs usually go through councils and NHS, but I know even some of those positions are filled through agency workers.  Maybe try finding an agency that recruits the workers and go that route...that would cost you extra though.

  • Woo!  This was never actioned.  I hope they are no longer employed by you!

I would contact Third Sector, Volunteering Now (I believe that is what it is called), the Charity Times, and Charityjobs.co.uk and put advertisements in these publications as well.

    Good luck!

  • What do you mean by health care workers?  Particularly if students are OK?

  • I have had friends who have done an elective in their last term of medical school before they head to full time training in hospitals.  The people I knew doing this, it was for eight weeks starting in March.  Is the timing as in January and the three month period required for what you need?  Because I can try to get a contact for you if it isn't.

  • Awesome, thanks guys. I'll look into those. Basically, I can't do something formally through a nursing school because there isn't enough time to get through the quality assurance formalities - but if this works out that is the plan for the long term.

Basically, (any of us who have lived in Asia know how this works!) it's a super rich Chinese retirement village on a tropical island and they want some white faced "nursing staff" to go around making beds, being nice to people and making the place look super posh and international. Fantastic short term gig/experience, just don't know how to get the right people.

And of course, only white, female, queen's English will do. Confused

  • I emailed a copy of your opening post to my friend who is a nurse (her Hubby is a consultant and her brother just finished studying something or the other in the medical field), she might have a lead.

  • If I wasn't taking the Bar at the end of Feb, I would totally spend the next 2 months learning the Queen's English and ship my white asss off to China for this!  Any chance they'll want someone in March or April or before it becomes hot as Hades in China?
